IPB University Campus Declared National Commitment in Mahfud Exciting Talk Show
The Chancellor of IPB University, Dr. Arif Satria together with the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees (MWA), Chair of the Academic Senate (SA), Chair of the Professor Council (DGB), Chair of the Alumni Association of IPB and Student President of the Student Family (KM) of IPB witnessed by Prof. Dr. Mahfud MD signed the Declaration of National Commitment in front of thousands of students, lecturers and education personnel at the Mahfud Exciting Talk Show entitled "Inspiration, Creation and Pancasila" at Grha Widya Wisuda Campus (GWW) IPB Dramaga Bogor, Monday (10/14/2019).
The Declaration of National Commitment was read by the Chancellor together with the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Chair of the Academic Senate (SA), Chair of the Professors Council (DGB), Chair of the Alumni Association of IPB and Student President of the Student Family (KM) of IPB reads as follows:
COMMITMENT TO THE NATION OF IPB
Since its establishment, IPB is known as a house of diversity that respects mutual respect regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, and social background. Responding to the development of the homeland situation and developments that occur internally in IPB, the IPB Large Family consisting of the Leaders of IPB Organs, Chair of the Alumni Association and Student President of KM IPB, hereby convey the following national commitments:
- IPB is determined to continue to maintain its identity as a home of diversity for every academic person who is under the auspices of IPB;
- IPB does not provide the slightest space for the development of concepts, forbidden thoughts and genres, and radicalism that is contrary to Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution which can threaten the establishment of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia;
- Calls on all academicians and education staff of IPB to focus on developing tridharma activities and producing innovative works for the glory of the nation and state;
- Calls on all academicians, education staff and alumni of IPB to unite and continue to foster togetherness and contribute to the glory of the Indonesian nation through the occupied fields of work;
- Enforce the applicable laws and regulations in IPB for academicians and personnel consistently, as well as provide strict sanctions according to the provisions that apply to anyone who commits a violation.
Five special guests who enlivened the collaboration program of IPB University and MMD Initiative including Prof. Dr. Mahfud MD, Arie Kriting, Cak Lontong, Ayu Kartika Dewi, and Addie MS.
Dr. Arif Satria, Rector of IPB University in his speech said, "The progress of a nation is due to one thing, the first is because of inspiration, innovation and integrity. Inspiration is the process of how to change others towards progress. So that good inspiration must be supported by the creation. Second is innovation. Innovation is committed to continue to innovate, IPB innovations cannot grow without integrity. This integrity will build trust so that it is easy to collaborate. With this principle, in 2023 IPB University is determined to inspire the world," he explained in front of more than 3,000 students who packed the GWW Dramaga Campus of IPB.
Dr. Arif Satria added that the integrity intended must be built with values, especially on the values of God. "Let all students explore the innovations that are based on the values of integrity and values of the Pancasila that we share. The student dormitory is a place to build cross-cultural communication that can bond together. So there is no question about Indonesia's commitment to care for nationality, IPB is solid for continue to develop the nation," said the Chancellor.
Prof. Mahfud MD in his presentation emphasized, "Without independence we will never advance. We can become us as we are now because of the independence we have achieved. Now we are heading for Indonesia Gold 2045. We must reduce poverty from time to time. The face of Indonesia Gold will be achieved in 2045. In 2036, demographic bonus will reach its peak which will support the existence of Indonesia gold. Diversity that can actually be our capital to move forward," explained Prof. Dr. Mahfud.
The member of the Steering Committee of the Pancasila Ideology Development Board (BPIP) added that God is Pluralist, also Tolerant, God is the one who creates the difference so that we can move forward together. We must work within that framework, so that we can become independent after we unite first. If you want to cross the bridge, then keep the brotherhood. "Avoid utterances of hatred that can cause hostility so they cannot be united. If you are godless, of course you will not do that," he added.
The discussion that was invited invited speakers included Dr. Ir Drajat Martianto, Ayu Kartika Dewi, and Arie Kriting.
"IPB is not a radical hotbed. IPB is a campus of diversity when we talk from its establishment until now. We always make efforts to realize this," said Dr. Drajat Martianto, Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs of IPB University.
Ayu Kartika Dewi, known as the pioneer of Sabang to Merauke, a student exchange program for those who live in different places and religions stressed, "Our effort to initiate the program is to maintain tolerance. When we meet it, the perception is usually intact, and we need to understand that tolerance is to the extent of protecting."
Another case with Arie Kriting which tells of his experiences when experiencing discrimination. "Indonesia is an independent country and I am not afraid to speak in an independent country. Indonesia is a nation that is more advanced than other nations, why? Because the advanced United States is still unable to tolerate racial-related matters. Indonesia has from the first time we gained independence in 1945 to position all of us as equals," he said, which was suddenly enlivened by applause from students. (RYS)
