During 2017 the number of incidents of drug and food poisoning cases nationally reported by the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPPOM) throughout Indonesia was 4,643 cases. Efforts to tackle food health and food poisoning cases cannot be carried out optimally because the data and information generated from the monitoring or survey have not been applied in a complex and sustainable manner by BPOM.

This prompted Kodarusman, student of the Department of Animal Production and Technology of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Najib Kamal Badri, students of the Department of Food Science and Technology of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology to design a Freforty (Food Reporting for Healthy) application that could be a solution to overcoming food health problems circulating in the community. Freforty is an android-based application that is used for reporting food products that are indicated to endanger consumers of food products from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

"Freforty is one of the innovations that utilizes digital technology to help consumers regarding complaints of food products consumed. In addition, Freforty seeks to assist the POM Consumer Complaints Service Unit (ULPK) in the efforts to carry out monitoring or surveys that have not been widely and sustainably implemented for food health issues among MSMEs, "Kodarusman explained.

Kodarusman explained that the Freforty application would connect the consumer as the reporter with the BPOM who would respond to the reporting. In its reporting mechanism, the reporting party reports food products that are indicated to contain certain hazardous substances. Furthermore Freforty considers these consumer reports with several criteria, including the intensity of reporting of the same case, the urgency of the type of report and the health impact of consumers due to consuming food products.

Through his ideas, Kodarusman and Najib won 3rd place in the National Nursing Student Association Essay Competition, Pekalongan University, which was held last July.

"I am very happy to be able to visit the city of Pekalongan which has a designation of a creative city because of its batik crafts. In addition, I was also impressed to be able to exchange ideas and thoughts about health issues raised by the essay contestants. I also did not think I would win third place. Because when viewed from other participants, the ideas are all good and worth implementing by the government, "Kodarusman said.

They hope that Freforty's work will get the attention of related parties such as the campus, the government and others so that it can be realized and benefit the wider community. (AVR)
