Minister of Agriculture Appreciation Towards IPB 3S Rice Variety Innovation

“For the first time in the history of Indonesia, the rate of food inflation decreased significantly from 10.57 per cent in 2014 to 1.26 percent in 2017. This is a tremendous leap, far beyond other larger countries such as Germany and China,” said the Minister of Agriculture.

“I remember when Prof. Herry, the previous Rector of IPB University, came to the Ministry of Agriculture offering the IPB-3S, I agreed. Finally we tried it in Karawang, and the result was great. If the regular rice can only produce 6 tons / ha, IPB-3S can be up to 13.4 tons / ha. Asia can supply rice, “said the Minister of Agriculture.
Minister Amran insists that will not change the farm without the technology and science and technology development in college. In addition, the ability of Indonesian farmers are not inferior to the farmers in Germany, Taiwan and Japan. “We only lost in passion and fighting spirit,” he said.
Answering to this, Rector of IPB University, Dr. Arif Satria in his speech said that IPB University has launched the concept of Agro-Maritime 4.0 as a commitment to deliver IPB University use of technology, especially in the agricultural sector. Because the Rector realizes that future agriculture has begun to lead to technology 4.0.
“In this era, it is no longer the time to compete, but we must collaborate. Cooperation between universities and between institutions is necessary, “said the Rector of IPB University.
During this occasion Dr. Arif Satria also said that now IPB has established a wide range of cooperations, one of them with Wageningen University to develop Smart Farming in IPB. And the Ministry of Agriculture is expected to support this program. “Yes, I am ready to support and hopefully the target of the fourth month it will have then be realized,” said Minister of Agriculture.
