IPB and Kyoto University Reinforced Double Master Degree Programme
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and Kyoto University (KU) renewed the MoU for the next five years signed by the Rector of IPB–Dr. Arif Satria and President of Kyoto University –Prof. Juichi Yamagiwa on December 1st, 2018 at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor, Indonesia. The MoU signing was held during "IPB & KU International Symposium on Education and Research in Global Environmental Studies in Asia" event, which involved 250 participants from 9 countries (20 universities and institutions) and attended by Japanese Embassy and IPB official representatives. IPB-KU collaboration has been established for a long time, notably considering the large number of IPB academia studying at Kyoto University. The official collaboration at faculty and research center level for the first time was signed back in 1983. Since university-level MoU signing in 2013, collaboration activities have been expanding to be more diverse and intensive, including implementation of IPB-KU Double-Degree Master programs, research collaborative activities, routine lectures and student mobilities through the winter/spring course, internship and international organizing symposiums and educational exhibitions; hence, through this next-five-year MoU extension IPB-KU will further strengthen their flagship activities. These Double Degree Master programs are currently underway between IPB study programmes of ??Regional Planning and Landscape Architecture with KU Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies (GSGES) which have accepted students since 2017. Another program open is by KU Graduate School of Agriculture (GSA) for all study programs from IPB. The program was initially initiated by the Faculty of Agriculture of IPB together with KU–GSA and GSGES. In addition, KU-IPB Study fair was also held which was attended by more than 250 students and high school students who came from Bogor and outside Bogor in order to attract students and prospective students to study at IPB and KU. The implementation of this collaboration program is intended to produce graduates and innovators of global social and environment with a rich multicultural perspective. Strategic collaboration with KU, which is one of the World's best universities, is among the internationalization strategies implemented by IPB to strengthen its organizational capacities.
