Business Success of IPB Young Alumni, From Sheep Cattle to Property Sales
The media has a role in disseminating information to the public. For this reason, for an institution, having good relations with the media is important. This was realized by the Public Relations Section of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) Communication Bureau by holding a Press Gathering event at Mitra Tani Farm (MT Farm), Tegal Waru Ciampea, Bogor (30/10). This activity was attended by various media reporters.
Head of IPB Communication Bureau, Ir. Yatri Indah Kusumastuti, M.Sc in her speech said that MT Farm itself is a livestock business owned by alumni of IPB, Budi Susilo Setiawan, S.Pt who had started a sheep cultivation business since he was a student.
"Mas Budi is one of the pride of IPB, which has always been consistent in fostering community and livestock development," he said.
In this Press Gathering, Budi (37 years old) explained his business activities, which were originally only sheep until now which have penetrated the property business.
Budi began pioneering the sheep cultivation business when he was still in second grade at IPB. For Fapet Alumni of class 37, by entrepreneurship he can express his potential and be able to apply his knowledge. Especially the science of animal husbandry that he had received at IPB.
In 2004, Budi decided to choose a sheep farm. His chosen sheep business could not be separated from two important reasons. First ideological reasons. He said that in Islamic teachings, being a sheep breeder would train someone to have a gentle character, diligent, diligent and able to learn to appreciate the process.
Second, the reason for the data. That currently the availability of sheep compared to the Indonesian population is only 1:10. That is, if ten percent of Indonesia's population sacrifices, then the stock of sheep in our country has run out. Therefore, this business will be very potential.
Success in the sheep farming business did not make Budi satisfied, since four years ago he also expanded his business in the property sector through PT. Mitra Buana Asri Sentosa. Already a variety of housing and plots projects have been sold, such as Tasnim Homestay, Tasnim Riverside and Tasnim Garden. The last name is the part that will be the Pongkor Geopark area declared by the Bogor Regency Government.
Budi also said about the four things that have become his key to be consistent until today.
"There are four things that have become my motivation to work, an essence taken from Surat al-Ashr. Namely sure, optimal effort, knowledge and patience. Be sure that whatever effort we will run is good, right and useful. Then try optimally and as best as possible. Continue to learn and share knowledge, and finally be patient in undergoing the process, "he said.
After sharing his experience, Budi invited the participants to see the farm area he owned directly. In this area, Budi shows one of the unique businesses he developed, namely the qurban hotel. In this business, Budi offers people who will carry out qurban worship, can entrust young livestock to then be cared for and raised in qurban hotels, only by paying a maintenance fee of five thousand rupiah per day.
The Press Gathering ended with the announcement of the winner of the 55th Anniversary of the IPB Journalistic Work Competition. This competition consists of three categories, namely the category of writing, photography and video.
With this activity, IPB is expected to be able to continue to maintain good relations with the media so that innovations and information possessed by the institution can be conveyed to the public, one of which is Budi's success story. (AVR)
