Dr. Irfan Syauqi Beik, First Place for Lecturer with Most Academic Achievements Social Humaniora Division in IPB
His role in improving the quality of zakat management which gave an impact towards the efforts in eradicating poverty brought blessings for Dr. Irfam Syauqi Beik. A lecturer at the Department of Shariah Economics Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) succeeded in becoming the lecturer with the most academic achievements in the Social Humaniora division coming in as first place in IPB. Dr. Irfan created Center for Islamic Business and Economic Studies (CIBEST), a platform for zakat management for those in need or mustahik (recievers of zakat).
CIBEST has been officially adopted by the National Amil Zakat Body (BAZNAS) Republic of Indonesia to calculate the impacts of zakat distribution nationwide whilst as an evaluation towards the work performance of the zakat management institution.
“This is something that has never been imagined before. I am very grateful to those from the department who have been supportive so that all the registration documents and conditions for Lecturer Achievements were fully prepared by the departement. This all happened while I was preparing for my paper that would be presented. I am grateful that I have been trusted by the jury to represent IPB to compete in the national levels in the Social Humaniora division,” said the man who now sits as the Head of the Center for Business Studies and Shariah Economics Institution for Research and Community Devotion (LPPM) IPB.
Dr. Irfan’s activity in the zakat world is based on his strong spirit to engage in efforts of solving national problems, of which is eradicating poverty. One of the efforts he has done is on how to improve the quality of zakat management by creating various calculation equipment to calculate the work performance of the management of zakat. One of them is CIBEST. CIBEST consists of four main index which are the welfare index, the index for material poverty, the spiritual poverty index, and the absolute poverty index.
“Through this CIBEST model, I will try to implement concepts that measure welfare and poverty not only by the measurement of its physical material characteristics, but also those in the mental spiritual aspects. Alhamduilillah my contribution recieved an award certificate from BAZNAS which was given to me at the beginning of 2018. This is the form of appreciation from BAZNAS for the efforts that i have given through this CIBEST model. All official zakat institutions all over Indonesia use CIBEST equipment,” he said.
Other than that, his engagement in the development of national and international zakat also resulted in an award which was given by the Department of Shariah Economics and Finance Indonesia Bank.
Dr. Irfan said that these achievements are not just to something to be proud of, but it is more than that. It is a motivation to keep going on and continue innovating. Last, my plans for the future are to continue to contribute optimally, not only for our beloved campus IPB, but also for the community, nation, and country according to the capacity and capability that I posses.
