Anti-corruption Declaration in IPB Campus
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held Festival Akademia Antikorupsi (FAA) 2018. The FAA sequence of events was started at September 21st, 2018, and consisted of anti-corruption oration contest, infograph and short movie competition, workshop, and talkshow. This event was initiated by State Universities Board of Professors in Legal Entity (MDGB PTN-BH), IPB’s Board of Professors and Agriculture Research Centre (PSA) Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) IPB.
FAA Talkshow was held on Saturday (29/9), in Graha Widya Wisuda, IPB Dramaga Campus, with the theme “Building Multi-parties Synergy in Indonesia Anti-corruption Movement”.
“FAA 2018 is a very good momentum to build synergy between parties to actualize free-corruption Indonesia,” said Dr Rina Mardiana, the project officer of the event.
According to her, synergy between parties and institutions is expected to build a productive cooperation and harmonious relationship, so that there will be quality and useful works. To achieve that, the synergy has to complement each party and to bridge the differences, so they can fight against corruptions in Indonesia.
IPB Rector, Dr Arif Satria also put serious attention on corruption eradication, especially in higher education institutions. In his speech, he said that IPB will encompass anticorruption lesson in upcoming 2019 curriculum. According to him, it is vital to develop the characters of all IPB academicians to have the same vision, which is to eradicate corruptions in Indonesia. This character building is important because it turns out that success starts from honesty and high discipline. The inclusion of anticorruption lesson in the curriculum is expected to nurture honesty in students and lecturers as well and prevent corruptive behaviours.
“This is areally important movement to help Coruption Eradication Comission (KPK) to eradicate corruptions in Indonesia and build a corruption-free country,” said Arif Satria.
IPB Rector stated that since 2016 IPB has signed on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KPK about corruption eradication in Indonesia. Until now IPB also has been sending its expert witnesses whenever KPK called upon to help solve various corruption cases.
The Head of KPK, Ir Agus Raharjo hopes that FAA can be continued in the future. This event is a moment to evaluate and introspect ourselves for further development, and eventually will actualize ‘good unity governance’.
“I really want higher education institutions to change the students’ character so that they wont do certain behaviours such as faking signatures, cheating, or plagiarism. Things like this have to have consequences,” said Agus.
Agus also hopes that each higher education institutions create a transparency of budget report to stakeholders and partners. Transparency is also vital to actualize good unity governance.
Besides transparency, there is one condition needed to eradicate corruption, which is the participation of all parties. This participation can come from society, academicians, and government. Anyone who reports an alleged corruption suspect to KPK will be protected and even rewarded by KPK.
This talkshow invited Drs Ahmad Hidayat, Ak, CA, MBA (member of Commisionary Board Internal Audition of Risk Management and Quality Control, Financial Services Authority), Ir Bahrunsyah, SH, Msi (General Director of ATR/BPN Ministry Republic of Indonesia / Expert Staff of Community), Prof Dr Ir Hariadi Kartodiharjo, MS (IPB’s Board of Professors), Sandy Canester (Artist/Musician), and Christian PP Purba (Head of Indonesia Forest Watch).
The talkshow was ended by a declaration about plan which was read aloud by Head of MDGB PTN-BH, which is also the Head of IPB’s Board of Professors, Prof Yusram Massijaya; IPB Rector, Dr Arif Satria; and the Head of PSA LPPM IPB, Dr Rina Mardiana. (Ard)
