Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) welcomed the return of IPB's People's Animal Husbandry School (SPR) delegations to the 62nd International Atomic Energy Agency General Conference in Vienna, Austria, on 17-21 September 2018. The delegations were led directly by Prof. Dr. Ir. Muladno, MSA, founder of the People's Animal Husbandry School. Two breeders who became delegates were Juanto as Chairperson of the Livestock Owners Representative Group (GPPT) SPR Tunas Barokah, Temayang, Bojonegoro Regency, and Wagiman as Chairman of the GPPT SPR Maju Bersama, Sungai Lilin, Musi Banyuasin Regency. The conference was also attended by Prof. Dr. Ir Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat, M.Sc F.Trop, the Vice Rector for Cooperation and Information Systems of IPB. The welcoming event took place on Monday, 24 September 2018 at Bumi Aki Restaurant, Bogor, West Java.
The welcoming event was attended by the leaders of the Institute for Research and Community Services (LPPM) of IPB, among others Prof. Dr. drh. Agik Suprayogi, M.Sc.Agr, as Deputy Head of Research Division of LPPM of IPB and Prof. Dr. Sugeng Heri Suseno, S.Pi, M.Si, Deputy Head of Community Services of LPPM of IPB. In his speech, Prof. Agik Suprayogi said, "We strongly support the program of the People's Animal Husbandry School, which is now successful until the international stage. In the future we will also develop community services programs in other faculties and make the SPR as a Role Model".
Prof. Agik also delivered messages to the IPB People's Animal Husbandry School team. "Research and community services are likened to two inseparable sides of a currency, and this People's Animal Husbandry School Program is an example, even now it has gone international by attending a conference in Austria," he said.
Two farmers who were assisted by SPR, namely Juanto and Wagiman, also shared the story of their journey to be able to go to Austria. Juanto told that the process he went through was quite long. "When I heard this opportunity, I began preparing myself to take the selection stages. At the first stage, we sent our GPPT portfolio. When we passed the first stage, we had to join a series of training to prepare ourselves for the conference," explained Juanto.
Wagiman also shared his journey in Austria. "Actually, the conference held in Austria was about nuclear utilization. Fortunately, our Professor, Prof. Muladno, explained us the various benefits of nuclear for farmers before the conference, so I could answer the Ambassador's question. However, there is one message for IPB from us. Even though we have achieved this point, we hope that IPB continues to provide guidance to us, especially in the fields of science and administration," said Wagiman during discussion with the leaders of LPPM and the IPB SPR Team.
