IPB Diving Community Together with Sea Care Diver Performs Clean Sea Action

The Bogor Agricultural Institute's Diving Community (IPB) participated in a clean sea action event held by the Sea Care Diver Community. The activities carried out in Kepulauan Seribu on 18th to 19th of August. This is a part of the action of diving to collect trash throughout Indonesia. This action is a way for divers to commemorate the 73rd Indonesian Independence Day.
Participants from IPB Diving Community consisted of five students from the Department of Marine Science and Technology (ITK) Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) IPB. The group led by Ridho Zulfikar Wicaksono left for Kepulauan Seribu with the Akar Bahar Ship owned by the Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries that were tasked with monitoring conservation and coral reefs from Muara Baru Port, Jakarta.
Together with divers from various circles, on August 19, 2018, the IPB diving team carried out trash collection activities under the sea. Each diver is provided with a bag as a tool to collect garbage found during diving. On this occasion also attended the Thousand Islands District Administrative District, Husein Murad. A total of 62 people were recorded as participating in the action.
"We are very happy to be able to participate in this activity. Hopefully our involvement can contribute as one of the efforts to fight marine waste," said Mufti Aprizan, an IPB student in one of the action participants. Meanwhile, as the group leader, Ridho expressed his gratitude to Simon Boyke Sinaga as the Head of the Committee for activities to support during the event. (FM)
