Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (Menristekdikti RI) in a text of his speech read by the Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria said, "In commemoration of the 73rd Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, let us continue to work to build research, technology and higher education and make proud achievements to strengthen pride and confidence in Indonesia. Keep working, keep innovating, keep on achieving. Because our work is the nation’s achievement. "
"Today is a special day for the Indonesian people. On this day we commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. We are very grateful to the Almighty God who has blessed our dreams of becoming an independent nation, a great nation, a united nation in the midst of diversity, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. On the basis of this diversity we become big and strong, and on this solemn day we invite all elements of this nation to fully understand the Pancasila and diversity of the nation, as well as seeing diversity as a gift," continued the Rector of IPB.
According to the Rector of IPB a few days ago, we have just commemorated the 23rd National Technology Resurgence Day. The commemoration is a form of appreciation for the success and achievements of the bright sons and daughters of the Indonesia in the field of science and technology. There are quite a lot of achievements that make proud and exhibited more than hundreds of innovation products to improve the welfare of the community and the independence as well as competitiveness of the nation. "However, the use of science and innovation for the community, especially economic and industrial actors, still needs to be improved. For this reason, as a science and technology institution we must continue to improve synergy with industries and the community, so that science and technology and innovation can contribute to the progress of the nation and answer the nation's problems," said the Rector of IPB to deliver the remarks of the Minister of Research and Technology.
The Rector of IPB emphasized, "In the future, we still have to fight to overcome many challenges, including eradicating corruption, strengthening competitiveness, and the Industrial Revolution 4.0. These challenges are not an obstacle to our enthusiasm, because we believe that, as long as we are united, cooperative, earnest and work hard, work smart and work trustworthy in our respective fields of work, we will be able to answer this challenge"
Furthermore, the Rector of IPB said, "Facing the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, we must strengthen the old literacy that only relies on reading, writing and mathematics with new literacy in the field of higher education, namely data literation, technology literation and human literation. Data literacy is the ability of our students to read, analyze and use information from big data in the digital world. Technology literacy is the ability to understand systems of mechanics and technology in the world of work, such as coding and artifical intelligence, as well as the principles of engineering. Whereas human literacy is a side of humanity, communication and creative design. "
These three new literacies need to be mastered by all university graduates in Indonesia. To instill literacy, lecturers, teachers, and education staff must also improve their quality, especially in leadership and teamwork skills, the ability to adapt to new technologies and global challenges, and have the ability to entrepreneurship, including mastering social entrepreneurship. With this strengthening, we are confident that we will be able to overcome the challenges of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution and become one of the countries with high competitiveness. (FM)
