IPB Invites Netherland University to Develop Smart Farming and Climate Innovation
Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) invites Wageningen University and Research (WUR) and Maastricht School of Management (MSM) to develop Smart Farming and Climate Innovation. Rector of IPB Dr. Arif Satria with Head of Majelis Wali Amanat (MWA) IPB Prof Dr. M.A. Chozin and International Program Director IPB, Prof. Iskandar Z. Siregar hold a meeting with Rector of WUR Prof. Arthur Mol in WUR Campus, (27/6). One of the urgent agenda in the meeting is developing Smart Farming in tropical area.
Visit IPB to WUR is part of a series of working visits IPB Rector to various universities in Europe both in France, Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, and Switzerland.
Meeting with Rector of WUR will be followed up immediately with the WUR Team's visit to IPB on July 4, 2018 to come in Bogor to prepare a proposal to be submitted later this year in the context of the Interdisciplinary Research and Education Fund (INREF) Initiative.
“As we know this year WUR is a hundred years old and placed in the first rank on QS World University Rankings by Subject Agriculture and Forestry. While IPB in 2018 placed in top 100 QS World University Ranking by Subject Agriculture and Forestry. The cooperation with IPB has been very long time in research and education such as ABF, INDOSOL, ALIN, TVET etc. We plan for extension of cooperation between the colleges in 2019,” IPB Rector says.
Next, IPB Rector and entourage hold a meeting with Dean of MSM, Prof. Wim Naude in Maastricht campus to anticipate disruption era in agricultural business model in context Climate Innovation and future agricultural education curriculum.
The meeting discuss the urgency to anticipate disruption as artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, fintech and renewable energy developed. It also agrees to strengthen the cooperation of both parties for the development of business and management education with anticipatory new content to disruption.
“And IPB ready to escort agricultural transformation 4.0 in Indonesia to suit in Industrial Revolution 4.0 era. Surely by strengthening Internet of Things technology, robotic technology, drone, artificial Intelligence, big data, etc. The cooperation with Netherland is very important because they are experienced in developing smart farming. We need to learn from Netherland in smart farming to make Indonesia agriculture adaptive to disruption era,” he adds.
Previously on 25-26 June 2018, the Rector and his entourage visited Sorbonne University Paris in order to expand cooperation. In addition to the Joint Working Group (JWG) Indonesia – France 2018, a number of partnerships with several universities in France have been undertaken, including expansion of cooperation with Sorbonne University, extension of cooperation with the University of Paris 7, extension of cooperation with University Aix-Marseille and cooperation with INP ( Institute Polytechnic de Toulouse) followed up with the Double Degree IPB-INP Toulouse.
In the JWG Indonesia-France, the Rector of IPB is also accompanied by Dr. Sudradjat, IPB Academic Senate Secretary who is also the former Indonesian Education and Culture Attaché in Paris. (NR)
