Hobby on Equestrian Drives IPB Student to Gold Medal

Reza Aulia Putra, undergraduate student of Animal Science Faculty represented Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Equestrian Club of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and was able to grasp Gold Medal in Final Round of Equestrian Show Jumping of Djiugo. In the competition, Reza was able to passed 70 cm barrier in Senior Category of the competition in Arthayasa Stable, Depok (14-15/04). The participants came from 28 clubs across Indonesia.

Reza already been in love with equestrian since his sophomore year in college. He told us that his love to interact with horses is indescribable. Reza can’t missed a single day without seeing horses. “I really like to see horses, as well as taking care of and riding them. People might not know how the feeling during riding a horse is. For me, horses is my bestfriend”, Reza said.

Reza also told us about the experience of his jumping off the 70 cm barrier during the equestrian competition. “Equestrian horses is warm-blood horses and is come from the breeding of local and abroad species of horses. This type of horse usually have strong and beautiful steps. When I was jumping off the 70 cm barrier, it was like I was flying with the horse. It was ultimately fun, and it was even more when I was able to receive the gold medal”, He explained.

It is not just a hobby, Reza thinks that he might be a professional equestrian one day. From the very first start upon joining equestrian club, he diligently follow every steps of training, follow many competition and internship in several horse training center to experience the things he wasn’t known before, like interact with species of horses.

“From where I came from there is no equestrian horse. I might want to breed equestrian horses in my place someday. So, it will be able to be use by the community”, He hoped.
