In the Scientific Oration on "Higher Education Strategy in the Era of Disruption, IPB Rector stated that universities should be ready to face the current era of disruption. But what does it really take to make these breakthroughs in science? You must do your best to be on the cutting edge of world science: you must dare to innovate, to bring together the best of everything, and make your dreams into reality. In the disruption era, change does not happen gradually as people climb ladder. in an era of disruption more like an explosion so large, can destroy the old ecosystem and replace it with a completely different new ecosystem.

"We are entering an era where we experience many 'disturbances' that are caused by ever-increasing changes. One of the driving forces for such changes is the advancement in the field of technological revolution, demographic structure change, climate change, environment, and geopolitics, which also alters our higher education landscape. Of course the changes that occur must be addressed wisely for universities able to respond to the challenges of the times, "he said.

We are entering an era of industrial revolution 4.0 which is quite different from the previous era. Now we are in the era of industrial revolution 4.0 which is quite different from the previous era. The industrial revolution of the first generation is characterized by the growth of mechanization and energy based on steam and water. The second generation industrial revolution is characterized by the development of electrical energy and mass production. The third generation industrial revolution is characterized by the growth of electronics-based industries, information technology, and automation. "The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) is the fourth major industrial era since the initial Industrial Revolution of the 18th century. It is characterized by a fusion of technologies that is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres. It is marked by emerging technology breakthroughs in a number of fields, including robotics, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, quantum computing, biotechnology, The Internet of Things, 3D printing and autonomous vehicles." Rector said.

Dr. Arif then appealed students and university communities to be prepared to adjust to the demands of the times. Essentially university now must be prepared to face the era of disruption. In addition to continuing to prepare a curriculum that meets the demands of the era, various facilities must also be well prepared so that it can support education.

"Therefore, lecturers and educational staff should have empathy, willing to hear and understand the needs of today's students. For example, lectures should plan and deliver  more effective lectures with interactive media to make it more interesting, "he said.

On the same occasion, Rector Untad, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Muhammad Basir SE, MS, congratulated the graduates for his successful completion of his studies at this Untad Campus. Rector of UNTAD also expressed his sincere thanks to IPB Rector who is willing to deliver his scientific oration on his campus," he said. (Wied)
