Marbot of Al Hurriyah Mosque of IPB Was Named as the Best Graduate for March 2018 Graduation
According to Ikhsan Suhendro, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) is a "People's Campus", as the university provides quality education for all (local High Students) at affordable cost. Ikhsan optimistic that IPB has been his second home to study and to make his dreams come true.
In Graduation Ceremony of Phase VI for both the Undergraduate Studies and Graduate Studies Program, and Veterinary Profession, of academic year 2017/2018 at Grha Widya Wisuda, IPB Campus, Dramaga, Bogor, today 21 March 2018, Ikhsan was named as the best graduate of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry IPB.
"IPB is a prestigious and renowned populist campus, since in its recruiting system for its new incoming students the university accept high-school students from all over Indonesia”. In addition, IPB provide funding support through the many scholarship programs the university administers. This is an important thing for me, as I come from less fortunate families. Due to such condition, to provide funding support for me to pursue my higher degree program was really impossible. Even travelling out of Sumatera, it is far beyond our parents reach," he said when he was interviewed by IPB public relations team.
In his statement, Ikhsan has a strong determination to continue his higher degree program despite the many difficulties he faced at the time. He understood that it was impossible for him to continue his higher degree program due to the economic situation of his parents, but such situation was not extinguish his efforts to study into the university. He has to move the story along his life, and prepares his dream self for the next dream. So, any time and wherever he was he had been studying hard, especially he did the exercises of the Selection Together In Higher Education State (SBMPTN) tests, he got from his friends who joined the learning lessons.
"Thank God, I successfully passed the selection process for the National Selection of State University Entrance (SNMPTN) or through the invitation method. But his story did not stop there, because parents did not agree if he would study in the university located their region, due to their economy condition. But I tried to convince them that would get funding support through Bidikmisi scholarships I proposed. God blessed me, my proposed funding support will be granted. I said it to my mother," he said.
One of the advices of my mother at that time I still remember that she wanted me to be the concerned person, means caring, sensitive to the feelings of others. "You must save, do not go with consumptive friends, my dear," he added.
Ikhsan and family are very grateful with the new admissions system applied in IPB, as all freshmen must live in dormitories that cost fairly cheap.
The boy who was born in Lampung on 12 December 1994, said that the students had three choices, while showing their fingers, namely academic, organization and rest. It seems that taking two choices are the correct option. If we wanted to take two choices successfully, must sacrifice one.
"No problem, no pain no gain, because the actual rest is death," he said. To fulfil his desire he joined the student organization in the campus, Ikhsan chose to join as marbot of Al Hurriyyah mosque in IPB Campus, Dramaga. The reason was, in addition to be the place to develop his talent and amanah, Ikhsan got free mess or dorm.
"He immediately signed for this. Finally his application was accepted, he was one of the marbot Al Hurriyyah mosque, Alhamdulillah. What is the distinctive jobs for marbot in the campus mosque of IPB. It is the institutional stewardship of mosques and cleaning teams, they have been organized and their working schedules have been arranged neatly. So our duty as marbot have been assisting the committee in celebrating the Islamic holidays, mosque prosper, managing the routine studies, and developing self-talent, "he said.
As a marbot, my daily routine has been Ikhsan for tahajjud prayers before dawn prayers, followed by syuro (musyawarah), then to attend the routine study at the Al Hurriyyah Mosque Hall before leaving for campus.
"Another benefit to marbot, I managed to control my congregational prayers and maintain the strong of ukhuwah (brotherhood) bonding until now," he said.
Ikhsan always kept the advice of one of his ustadz as the activist of da'wah, we must be well-performed, so that our da'wah will be heard. If learning is worship, then achievement we make will be da'wah.
He had been overwhelmed with his schedules, especially in his sixth semester. During which Ikhsan had joined four organizations at once, three of which had selected him to be the chairman. However, by sharing with his fellows, Ikhsan learned the supporting patterns to enable him to chair the organization and to make achievements.
"It turns out that the pattern of his life affects his ability to participate optimally in the classroom, for example, he revealed that morning and afternoon sleep can eliminate the rote he made, and that sleep before learning helps prepare our brain for initial formation of memories and analysis power. Most importantly, we must 100% concentrate to the subject given in the classroom, always pay attention to the lecturer and prepare questions when you need clearer explanation," he said.
While he had been student of Bogor Agricultural University, Ikhsan had been part of Marbot Masjid Al Hurriyyah for 2014-2017. In addition to be Marbot, he had been active in various student organizations in the campus, such as Birena 2013-2017, where he was elected as Chairman for Foreign Relations and Multimedia in 2016; Himaproter Entrepreneurship Division 2015; Chief Reporter for Emulsion Magazine 2015-2016; and Chairman of Strategic and Action Studies of Student Executive Board of Faculty of Animal Husbandry on 2016.
Some of the achievements he successfully made while he was student of Bogor Agricultural University, among others were the first winner for Debate of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry of IPB 2014, the first winner of Scientific Writing Competition at Ganesha Education University Bali 2015; and the first winner of Scientific Writing Competition of Padjadjaran University 2016.
"After being graduated, I want to be a professional poultryman (poultryman) and an active writer in a national magazine. Currently I work in a multinational poultry company, PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia, as Management Trainee Supervisor," said student who has 3.71 GPA. (Wied)
