IPB Student Successfully Won the Second Winner of BIAC 2018 Championship
Being an archery athlete is a pride for students, one of them is Rachmat Ilham Maulana. He is the student of the Department of Animal Production and Technology, of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, of Bogor Agricultural University (DIPTP IPB). As athletes and students drew parallels between a life in business and life as a national athlete.
The perseverance and resilience in archery practicing has brought him to win the 2nd winner for Male Barebow Son of the Beat Indoor Archery Championship (BIAC) 2018. The National Event which was held on 10-11 February 2018, and was participated by various clubs and archery organizations throughout Indonesia. The style of archery for this competition are the National Standard Barebow U-9 for Elementary School (SD), Barebow U-14 for Junior and Senior High School, and General Barebow.
The student who was born in Jakarta, has been active as member of the SME Archery when he was in the 3rd semester of his study. At the beginning Ilham signed his name as SME Archery as he was very curios with this type of sport. He stated that the first time he was admitted as student of IPB, he did not know anything about archery. This was the reason why Ilham insisted to register to SME Archery.
"I registered my name as SME Archery team as I was really curious to learn the archery sport. Immediately, when the registration for archery was opened, I signed my name for this kind of sport and alhamdulillah I was accepted," said Ilham.
Ilham's curiosity grew when he officially selected as member as well as the executive board member of SME Archery.
"When I’m confident and skillful of using a bow to propel arrows and ready to join any competition, I have become a huge archery enthusiast," he added.
Despite being preoccupied with academic activities, Ilham managed to take his time to practice archery every day. His archery practice has been quite diverse, as archery is not very difficult but the game requires the archer to be patient, practice regularly and focus his mind on what he is doing. When he has plenty of time, Ilham practiced launching the arrows, but when the time is just a little, Ilham just just practice pulling the bow. Ilham's target is quite simple, he win one of shoot at 18 meters a 40 cm target, and the potential to score 270/300 points.
"Alhamdulillah finally I was given opportunity to participate in this national competition. Such opportunity enabled me, to check whether my targeted techniques and scores I earned while I did the exercises did not change. Joining the competition is similar with doing practice works together with other clubs, "said Ilham.
Previously, Ilham who is a staff of Training and Equipment SME Archery of IPB also won the 2nd winner for Dankorpaskhas Cup 2017 championship. This event was carried to celebrate the anniversary of Indonesian Air Force. "Be happy, when you participate in any competition. If you win, it is a bonus," he added. (Wied)
