IPB Agreed the Cooperation with the District Government Association throughout Indonesia
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation (MoU) with the District Government Association throughout Indonesia (Apkasi), Thursday (8/2). The signing of the memorandum of understanding held in this Ballroom Apkasi Jakarta, was conducted by the Head of Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of IPB, Dr. Aji Hermawan, and the Chairman of Apkasi, Mardani H Maming, who was also the Regent of Tanah Bumbu.
The signing activity of MoU also coincided with the Board Meeting of Management (RDP) attended by 114 Regents throughout Indonesia.
On this occasion, the person in charge of the activities of LPPM of IPB, Dr. Prastowo, delivered one of the featured programs of LPPM of IPB. According to him, it was already too much innovation results of IPB and universities in Indonesia which were still little used by the community. Meanwhile, the need for innovation was very urgent.
“Therefore, since 2013, IPB begins to accelerate to encourage the result of research to be able to be present in the midst of the community, especially in various models of agribusiness which are optimum and modern. Until 2017, there are 202 field stations succesfully implemented in the midst of the community,” he explained.
Dr. Prastowo said, currently the application of innovation was still a lot which was centralized in Java. Through this forum, IPB hoped to get more cooperation with the Local Government. In 2018, IPB would conduct various cooperation which led to the development of the agribusiness model in Tanah Bumbu District.
“Therefore, our hope, this agribusiness model can also be developed in areas outside Java. IPB views the Local Government as a strategic partner in the agricultural development in Indonesia through the innoative collaboration in the production centers,” he said.
The role of IPB as the university produced quite a lot of innovation, so that it could encourage the application of innovation of IPB in the middle of community. Through the mobilization program of students, scholars, and lecturers to participate in the centers of the agricultural production. With this program, the concept of A-B-C-G (Academic – Business – Community – Government) had been publicly known, IPB continued to be able to attend.
Some of the agribusiness models that had been developed by IPB in cooperation with the Local Government including the Agribusines Development Station Horticulture (in Cianjur District, Bogor, and Mandailing Natal); the Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) of Processed Food (in cooperation with Madiun District); the Soybean Production of Saturated Water Cultivation Technology (BJA) (South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and North Kalimantan); the Seafarming Vaname Shrimp (Kepulauan Seribu), and others.
