IPB Students Won Seven Medals at the IV Asia-Europe National Pencak Silat Paku Bumi Open Championship

Students of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) who are members of Perisai Diri Student Activity Unit (UKM) took home seven medals of the IV Asia-Europe National Pencak Silat Paku Bumi Open Championship held at Tri Lomba Juang Gymnasium in Bandung, West Java. In the competition was implemented on  2-4 February 2018. The team of IPB students won one gold, four silver medals and two bronze medals.

The team of IPB students who won the medals of the competition in adult category were from various cohorts, namely cohort 2014 to cohort 2016.  The winners were as follows: 1).  Gold medal was for Ade Mustopic; 2). Silver medals were  for Agus Swi Widodo,  Dzaky Baiquna, Ivan A, and  Aisyah Vira Amanda; and 3). Bronze medals were for  Risaldo RDP, and Ilham Habib. The winning team of IPB have proved that they are not only master in subjects offered in the university, especially the agricultural fields, but they are also master in non-academic fields such as this pencak silat traditional dance.

Chairman of Perisai Diri Student Activity Unit, Ade Mustopic, said they did not expect that the team would win such victory.  "However, the team routinely exercised before the competition, not only in short period. Their persistence and hard work brought them to win this present victory. While other students enjoy their holidays, we still practice continuously in our home for the competition. Hopefully the pencak silat team of IPB will make better achievements in the near future, "said Ade who also became one of the winners in this championship.

He added that the achievements made by Perisai Diri Student Activity Unit was due to the support of the coach, namely Dr. Abdul Haris Mustari. (Wied)
