Himaiko of IPB Organized Workshop as the Capacity Building for Field Works of IKK students

Himpunan Mahasiswa Ilmu Keluarga dan Konsumen (Himaiko the Association of Student of Family and Consumer Science) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in collaboration with Educational Philanthropy Community (KFP) of Dompet Dhuafa Pendidikan, organized the Social Worker Workshop, on 10 February 2018. The workshop was carried out  at class-room of the Department of  Family and Consumer Science (IKK), of the Faculty of Human Ecology of Bogor Agricultural University (FEMA IPB), and was  attended by approximately 50 participants of IKK students from various classes. Resource person for te Workshop was Community Development practitioner, Eko Sriyanto.

Chairman of Himaiko, Naila Aliya Marhama, said that the program was the capacity building for IKK students to make them more capable in interacting and empowering the community in Bina Desa program. The theme of the Workshop was "Keluarga Kuat Bangsa Hebat (Great Family Strong Nation)", the program of Bina Desa of Himaiko will be implemented in Tegal Waru Village, Bogor Regency.

"Items of the Bina Desa of Himaiko program, will be some program activities, such as the practical work on eight functions of family introduced by BKKBN, environmental education for children and training in the use of energy-efficient household appliances," said Naila.

Yet, Eko Sriyanto, stressed the importance of social work in today's society, a strategic approach to social responsibility, and social movement generated by students to launch large scale collective actions.

One of the workshop participants, Fida, said that such program was very useful. "I feel that I’m ready to plunge into community development programs," she said. (Wied)
