Bogor Municipality (Pemkot) will form "Joint Forum Towards Bogor as Family Friendly City". The formation of this forum was based on the results of research from the Department of Family and Consumer Science, the Faculty of Human Ecology, of Bogor Agricultural University (FEMA IPB) related to juvenile delinquency in Bogor City. The research program carried out by FEMA IPB revealed that the level of juvenile delinquency in the city of Bogor is much higher than teenagers in Bogor regency. Juvenile delinquency are varied, from brawl, bullying, addiction to online games, pornography to the consumption of drugs.

Child and Family Development Lecturer of FEMA IPB, Dr. Dwi Hastuti, said  "This research begins with small-scale research on the behaviour of adolescents in the city of Bogor. However, the surprising results need special attention from relevant stakeholders such as government and all elements in the society for follow-up actions". This surprising result received a positive response from the Bogor Municipality.

The proposed research on family and children won’t be carried out by IPB alone, but will also involve other universities in Bogor City such as Ibnul Khaldun University (UIKA), Nusa Bangsa University (UNB) and Pakuan University (UNPAK). All representatives of those universities were present at the inaugural meeting held at Paseban Sri Bima, Bogor City Hall, on Monday,  8 January 2018.

"By establishing research and socialization forum, it is hoped that the family will more concern to provide the best education for their children.  Moreover, the proposed research project will also provide guidance for stakeholders in planning and selecting the right target of family-related programs," said Dr. Dwi.

In addition to researchers of those universities involved, all elements of society such as the Satuan Kerja Perangkat Daerah (SKPD Regional Device Working Unit) will also work together to carry out such proposed research program. The joint cooperation is evidence of the seriousness of Bogor Municipality in developing Bogor to be a friendly city for  family and children. It is expected that the process of human resource development will be started from the younger generation, the adolescents. Other special guest present in the meeting, among others was the newly elected Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria. (Wied)
