The event, which was spearheaded by the Medicinal Plant Laboratory, of the Department of Forest Resources Conservation and Ecotourism (DKSHE) of FAHUTAN IPB aimed  to increase the interest and knowledge of students and the general public about various herbal products. All the exhibited herbs and were distributed for free at this event are the products of DKSHE IPB students.

"The objective of the activity was to promote and encourage public interest to the life of the Department of Forest Resources Conservation and Ecotourism students, they are not only talking on wild life but also on herbs. Lots of business opportunities can be generated as long as we pursue our study diligently, one of them through herbal medicine, which is well marketed both domestic and internationally. At back to nature lifestyle medicine we want our students to develop the natural products of our own nation's tradition which started to be eroded. Many indigenous see globalization as a threat to our traditional culture," said Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Davit Aldi.

The Expo which had been carried out for two hours attracted a lot of people to come, they came from various different backgrounds, namely students, lecturers and the public.  Various positive responses and appreciation were given by visitors mainly due to the flavours jamu or herbal medicine. "I think the herbal medicine made by students is better than those produced by public at large sold in the market," said Dr. Iwan Hilwan, one of the faculty members of the Department of Silviculture, of FAHUTAN  IPB.
