Achievement

The team of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) won 1st and 2nd for the technological breakthrough category at the Grand Final of New and  Renewable Energy  Technology and Business Innovation Challenge (NREC) 2017 at PT Rekayasa Industri, South Jakarta, on 13 December 2017.

The first winner was the team of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Biosystem, of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology of Bogor Agricultural University (FATETA IPB). The team consisted of Heksa Julian Satria Darmawan, Affan Afrizal Gani, and Hari Agung Pratama. The title of their innovation was "Lump for Lamp: Pemanfaatan Limbah Cair Industri Karet sebagai Sumber Energi Listrik untuk Lampu Penerangan Jalan dengan Metode MFC (The Utilization of Rubber Industry Liquid Waste as a Source of Electrical Energy for Street Lighting with MFC Method)".

While the 2nd winner was the team of the Department of Chemistry, of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Bogor Agricultural University (FMIPA IPB). The team consisted of Nugraha, Aida Rizky Fachrunnisa and Rizka Fitria Nurrosdiana. The title of their innovation was on "Optimalisasi Pemanfaatan Limbah Styrofoam menjadi Minyak Mentah dengan Metode Catalytic Cracking sebagai Sumber Energi Alternatif  (Optimization of Styrofoam Waste Utilization into Crude Oil with Catalytic Cracking Method as Alternative Energy Sources)".

NREC is an innovation competition around technology and business idea plans that focus on new and renewable energy fields, which have a positive impact on the social and economic of the Indonesian nation. This competition is an arena for Indonesian students from various disciplinary background to create innovation concept and solution for current energy problem related to new and renewable energy. The competition is divided into two categories: technological breakthroughs and innovative business ideas followed by more than 100 student teams from various universities in Indonesia. (Wied)
