IPB Continues to Improve Its Internal Performances for Other Achievements
At the beginning of 2018, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) successfully made some achievements and was ranked as the best State University of Legal Entity (PTN-BH). The rating was based on the Program Implementation and Financial Budgeting of State University (PTN) with the Best Performance Report. Nevertheless IPB continues to improve in achieving internal performance. One of which is by organizing Workshop on Report Performance Achievement of IPB for the Year 2017 by Using Performance Management System (Simaker) Online. The workshop was organized by the Directorate of Human Resources (HR) of IPB, in Senate Meeting Room, Andi Hakim Nasoetion Building, IPB Campus, Dramaga, Bogor, on 19 January 2018.
Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria, provided important notes related to students at Bogor Agricultural University who do not graduate on time, according to the normative degree studies period, as well as the diversities of standard target achievement by Faculties under the University. Various suggestions and inputs were collected from each Faculty. Such a credential could convey the achievement of noncognitive skills such as persistence, punctuality, and discipline that are also important and rewarded in the labour market.
On this occasion, the rector explained an old picture of graduates in various countries. The School of Graduate Studies in England, for example, takes eleven months; the undergraduate program in Australia and UK only three for years. "But still they produce qualified graduates. However, IPB will carry out further research to evaluate whether IPB students must carry out a research project under the supervision of a faculty member and write a thesis on the research for the entire program, or is there a differentiation for business school students to prepare business plan, for example? Is there any correlation between the thesis to the alumni of IPB who are able to work in all fields, in terms of their seriousness, the sharp of research analysis, of course they need necessary research to responds those requests," said Rector.
In addition, internal input related to the earlier planning schedule of seminars, up to scholarships provision for students and also changes in the supervisors and institutional support mechanisms to accelerate the punctuation of graduation process. "In Japan, research proposals are prepared at the beginning of incoming students, so the university can assess the student interests," added the rector.
The event was attended by deans, Head of the Institute of Research and Community Empowerment of IPB (LPPM), Directors, Head of Offices, Chief of Bureaus, and Chairmen of the Department under IPB. (Wied)
