Dr. Luky Adrianto: I wanted FPIK to be Rewarded in East Asia

Dean of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Dr. Luky Adrianto, was the intelligent figure. He started his lectures in the Department of Fisheries Social Economics of FPIK of IPB and graduated in 1992. He took the Master’s degree in Fisheries Economics and Policy in 2000 in Graduate School of Fisheries Sciences, Kagoshima University, Japan. Furthermore, in 2004 he held the doctoral degree (PhD) in the field of Marine Resources Policy from United Graduated School of Marine Environmental Sciences, Kagoshima University, Japan.

The career of Dr. Luky was began by joining in the coastal management program in the Research Center for the Environment (PPLH) of IPB. Then in 1995, he became a lecturer of civil servants (PNS). When the smart doctor, Rokhmin Dahuri, and his colleagues established the Center for Coastal and Marine Resources Studies (PKSPL), Institute for Research and Community Services (LPPM) of IPB. He became one of the figures who contributed greatly.

The study in Japan provided the maturity of knowledge and experience. He returned to IPB after completing his study in Japan. His next career was as the Deputy Head of PKSPL IPB, the Secretary of PKSPL of IPB, the Chairman of Study Program of Postgraduate of Coastal and Marine Resources Management (PS-SPL), the Senate Secretary of FPIK of IPB, and in 2013-2015 he was trusted as the Head of PKSPL of LPPM of IPB. In 2015, he was elected to be the Dean of FPIK of IPB for the term of office 2015-2020.

As the Dean, he wanted FPIK of IPB could be appreciated and respected by the institutions, especially the fisheries and marine science institutions in East Asia region. “I want FPIK to be not only good at home in Indonesia, but also it is appreciated by East Asia region,” he said.

According to him, part of the vision had been achieved through his election as the Co-Chair for International Advisory Board, Coastal and Marine Institute, Xiamen University, in China. “They appoint us as the representative, meaning our faculty is respected. We are also accepted as a member of ASEAN Fishery Education Network in 2016. This means that ASEAN respects us,” he added. This added to the international recognition that had been achieved  by the teachers of FPIK through their respective fields. 

Behind the story, Dr. Luky was a person who had an artistic soul. He enjoyed listening to soft music. He also liked to paint and play music. “Because of the time, now rarely painting, but a few years ago he has a week to paint. I also play guitar and keyboard. Unprofessional. To please oneself is more than enough,” he concluded. (NIRS/NM)
