Campus of IPB was Officially to be the Location of Hokkaido University Liaison Office in Indonesia
Rector of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Dr. Arif Satria, and Dean of Research Faculty of Agriculture Hokkaido University, Prof. Atsushi Yokota, inaugurated Hokkaido University Liaison Office in Indonesia located in Campus of IPB Dramaga, Bogor (23/1). The inauguration was attended by the representative of the Embassy of Japan, the head of Hokkaido University, the alumni, and the representative of Hokkaido University from Indonesia.
Prof. Atsushi Yokota conveyed that the establishment of Liaison Office Hokkaido University in Indonesia in addition to facilitate the students of both countries for the student exchange, also to consider that at the moment the number of interest of the Indonesian students to Hokkaido University increased by approximately ten percent. “The number of Indonesian students studying at Hokkaido University is the 3rd largest among other universities in Japan. In addition to Indonesia, Liaison Office is also based in Thailand,” said Prof. Atsushi.
Representative of Embassy of Japan for Indonesia, Ryo Nakamura, said currently many Indonesian students who studied in Japan, and also not a few Japanese wanted to study in Indonesia. Liaison Office stood in order to promote the student exchange. He said, IPB became one of the selected universities, because IPB was the best university in Indonesia that focused on agriculture, so that many gifted students would be on this campus. “The momentum of this cooperation can also be the means of research exchange of Japan and Indonesia,” said Ryo Nakamura.
Meanwhile, the Rector of IPB conveyed that the presence of Liaison Office was a good opportunity for IPB. According to him, this was part of the strategy plan in running Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi. Therefore, the Rector expressed his gratitude that IPB had been trusted to be the founding place of the Liaison Office.
“The existence of this office is very important to promote the alumni of IPB in particular and Indonesia in general which will study in Hokkaido University. Other than that, the alumni of IPB who will become a sociopreneur can have the experience in the field, also gain the international competence and experience. It can also encourage Japanese students to study in Indonesia. As it is known that IPB is included into 61 QS University Ranking by Subject Agriculture. Other than that, it can promote various activities for both countries,” said the Rector.
For two days (23-24/1), it would be held the Studium Generale which was attended by no less than 300 participants from Hokkaido University Representative & Partners, namely IPB, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia International Institute for Life Sciences (I3L), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), University of Palangka Raya (UPR), University of Sriwijaya (Unsri), Brawijaya University (UB), Swiss German University (SGU). Also present were the alumni of Hokkaido University and the students of IPB.(dh)
