Viar Motor Handed-over 30 Units of Three-Wheel Motor Vehicles to IPB
Manufacturer of Viar Motor, PT. Triangle Motorindo (TM), handed over 30 (thirty) units of vehicles to Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) as the grant. The handed over ceremony was signed by Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, with President Director of PT. Triangle Motorindo, Ignatius Kartiman, in the Rector Meeting Room of IPB Campus, Dramaga, Bogor, on 14 December 2017. Other guests present to witnes the handed over among other were Chairman of Green Campus IPB Program, Dr. Agus Oman Sudrajat; Director of Viar Motor, Yucwanto; and Assistant Manager of PLN Network for Bogor Area, Nugroho.
The electric passenger vehicle which is currently being developed using the specifications of the Viar commercial tricycle motor. The vehicle was redesigned by IPB’ researcher into a four-passenger vehicle. The development of this passenger vehicle was led by Dr. Desrial from the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Biosystem, Faculty of Agricultural Technology of Bogor Agricultural University (FATETA IPB). In total there will five units of three-wheeled vehicles that will be used as pilot projects as operational vehicles in the campus. The number will continue to grow with the initial target of 30 units of tricycle.
Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto stated that the donated of Viar's three-wheeled vehicles will be used to support IPB Green Campus Program. The Green Car is developed with electric propulsion power, gasoline, and gas. "We expect in the future electric drive system will become the option. This three-wheeled vehicles program started due to IPB Working Program which has targeted that in the year 2020 IPB will become Green Campus, environmentally friendly campus, "he said.
This three-wheeled vehicle was initiated for long-time as the concerns of the high-speed motorcycle taxis on the campus. They caused a lot of incidents, so we need to educate them. "Therefore, we developed the transportation system in an environmentally friendly campus. We want more agile vehicle, agile dynamics technology makes vehicles safer and more economically valuable. But it must be more eco-friendly methods of transport, easier to maintain and cheaper to afford for wider users in the campus. In the future, not only 30 (thirty) such vehicles will be needed, we will order more. We hope the long-term cooperation can be expanded into the agricultural transportation," rector added.
Ignatius Kartiman explained that PT. Triangle Motorindo is open for cooperation in research and development with various educational or other institutions. "We expressed our sincere thanks to IPB and Dr. Desrial for the cooperation, the established cooperation enabled us to produce the present Viar Motor. We hope this cooperation will inspire the spirit of educational institutions to produce top-quality work for people of Indonesia, "said Kartiman.
