Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and PT Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday, 6 October 2017, at Rector’ Meeting Room, Andi Hakim Nasoetion Building, Campus IPB, Dramaga, Bogor. The signatories for the MoU were BSM Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP), Niken Andonowarih, and Secretary of the Institute (SI) of IPB, Dr. Ibn al-Qayim. This cooperation includes the payment of tuition fees through banking facilities and services using a house-to-house system.

Director of Distribution and Services of BSM, Edwin Dwidjajanto, said that this cooperation is a really good starting point to provide home-based banking services. He said, as one of the third largest shariah bank in Indonesia, BSM will provide convenience through sharia banking transactions. Edwin also affirmed that BSM will provide convenience and speed for customers who want to migrate from conventional to sharia banks.

Yet, Secretary of the Institute of IPB, Dr. Ibnul Qayim, stated that the cooperation between IB with BSM will facilitate students to pay their tuition fees, as well as allow faculty members and education personnel to have their banking transactions through sharia banking system freely. In addition, the MoU will enable BSM to channelize its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program through IPB and provide funding support for students by granting scholarships.

Prior to the signing of the MoU, BSM has channelized its CSR funds to support the construction of the Ulil Al Baab Mosque of the IPB Competency Education Program (PPKU) and the Al-Bahri Mosque in the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK). (Wied)
