Idim Dimyati Wants to be a Person Like Ridwan Kamil, After Being Graduated from the Department of Landscape Architecture of IPB
Idim Dimyati, the first son of family with four children, was born in Lebak, Banten. He has successfully achieved his dream to be admitted as student of the Department of Landscape Architecture, the Faculty of Agriculture of Bogor Agricultural University (FAPERTA IPB). Now Idim is sitting in freshman year of IPB.
Idim aspires to be an architect similar to the Ridwan Kamil (the Mayor of Bandung) or urban and regional planner. Economic condition of his parents do not dampen his ambition to reach his ideals. Idim was successfully awarded the Afirmasi scholarship administered by Directorate of Higher Education (Dikti) (Adik) 3T and Papua from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) RI.
Idim who had been graduated from SMAN 2 Rangkasbitung, originally is from the Sindangwangi village, Muncang District. His village is grouped into the underdeveloped villages, in Lebak District. Due to economic conditions, since childhood Idim already dititipkan to Pondok Pesantren (Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia) in the area.
"In the Pondok Pesantren I studied various subjects of religion. By the Pondok Pesantren manager I was then sent to a public school, "he said.
Since then Idim began to make various achievements. Idim always achieved the First Rank in his school. He won the second winner in the Astronomy Science Olympiad and won the second winner of national scientific writing in Bandung.
"Alhamdulillah since I had been registered as student I’ve never cause troubles to my parents. My school had never charged anything. I got various kinds of assistantships and scholarships in my school. To ease some of my parents burden and the people who provided funding support for me, I always saved some of my pocket allowance around 2000 or sometimes 5000 Rupiah for my personal urgent needs, "he said.
His took IPB as the university to pursue his higher degree program as IPB is the largest agricultural university, where he dreamed for since he stepped into the high school. He was so optimistic that he would pass Bidikmisi selection and would be admitted into IPB under such scholarships. However, Bidikmisi is not the best place for him to be admitted into IPB.
Idim was pessimistic, he began to lose direction. But under the guidance of his Counseling Guidance teachers at his school he was motivated to reach his dream. Idim is guided to join the Adik Scholarships selection funded by Kemenristek Dikti.
"Be patient, Dim, you have a good talent, I suggest you try to join another selection systems into the university such as SBMPTN. Soon after that, the opening of Affirmation scholarships funded by the Ministry of Research and Technology and Directorate of Higher Education was announced. Be patient Dim, you must be successful, your steps to reach successful life is still very long, "he said while imitated his Counseling Teacher.
Idim began to develop a new spirit. Due to economic limitations, Idim learned self-taught by borrowing his friends' exercise books.
"When the selection of affirmations took place, I was in the village and I was ill. My parents forbid me to travel to city as it fairly, but I was still desperate to go. As a result I only had 30 minutes to complete the test. When I was officially announced that I passed the admission test and successfully admitted into IPB, it was unbelievable that I managed to beat 100 other applicants, "he said.
Idim and his family was shocked to know that exciting news, few moments intervening, sad and slow; silent and weeping, they remembered the many struggles that Idim must took to make his dreams come true to be student of IPB. His father also advised him to see one's self succeeding in life without struggle and pain.
Now only one step away for Idim to make his dreams come true. In addition to become an scholar in agriculture, Idim is also committed to develop his region to be among the developed regionas of Indonesia.
"My area is classified to be the underdeveloped villages and I am planning to expand it to be developed one. In the next four years into, Rangkasbitung, Lebak, Banten, will have a young Landscape Architect from IPB. Amen, "he said. (Wied)
