The livestock sector globally is highly dynamic. In developing countries, such as Indonesia, it is evolving in response to rapidly increasing demand for livestock products. In the future, production will increasingly be affected by competition for natural resources, particularly land and water, competition between food and feed and by the need to operate in a carbon-constrained economy. Livestock production is likely to be increasingly affected by carbon constraints and environmental and animal welfare legislation. The farmers, particularly the small farmers are facing problems in early adoption of new technologies because of financial shortages. Therefore, most  opportunities are missed to open livestock farming, due to limited reasons for capital, large land and the ability to raise livestock. Seeing this great opportunity, a group of students of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), namely Rizky Ilmiyana, Irfan Abdul Aziz and Budiarno spawned an idea of " Get ternak (Livestock): the Application of Sharia-Based Investment Smartphone with Mobile Aps System".

Get ternak Applications has won the first prize for the National Scientific Writing Competition, Kalijaga Innovation and Research Competition 2, held by the “Sunan Kalijaga” Islamic University of Nusantara, Yogyakarta, on 23-26 February 2017.

Get ternak Applications is a smartphone application created to provide convenience methods for farmers and investors (investors) to cooperate. The usual mechanism is that farmers will offer their livestock business and offer the expenses will be required to run the farms, and investors can invest their capital to the farmers. The profit earned from the sale of livestock will be divided according to the initial agreement of 50:50. Some animal species are being kept by farmers, but most attention tends to be given to dairy cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, and poultry (broilers). Investors have dedicated their investment as capital to supporting small-scale farmers to improve their lives.

"We want to provide facilitate the limited livestock breeders and also provide an opportunity for investors to participate in doing business by investing capital for these farmers," he said.

Mechanism of capital funding action for livestock is based on the principles of Islamic Sharia law, where a profit sharing system between managers (Mudharib) and investors (Shohibul maal) is conducted. Another advantage of this principle farmers won’t pay no interest, so farmers as debtors continue farming or fishing operations freely to propose  loan.

The use of technology adjust well-established processes and policies to facilitate collaboration with the partner.  Investors can also monitor their livestock through the feature video provided on the Get ternak application, so they do not have to worry about the state of their livestock. In addition, investors will also get the final report about their investments after the livestock will be sold. (Wied)
