Rector of IPB Represented PTN and PTS of West Java in Anti Radicalism Declaration
Concerns about the declining spirit of the nationalism and love of the country and the further appreciation of Pancasila values among the campus circles were an exaggerated view. The campus precisely became one of the spearheads of Pancasila values to the future generation of the nation. For that, rightly the campus was given more space to develop the thoughts on the values of Pancasila. Uncommon misunderstanding often occurred, because the information bias and the lack of adequate supplies. For that, 44 Rectors of Public Universities (PTN) and Private Universities (PTS) in West Java together declared the commitment of anti radicalism as the form of the anticipation from the fading of the understanding toward Pancasila values.
The declaration implemented in Grha Sanusi, Hall of Universitas Padjadjaran (14/7), which was attended by approximately 500 participants, was attended by the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Prof. Muhammad Nasir, the Minister of Communication and Informatics, Rudiantara, the Rector of Universitas Padjdjaran as the Host, the Rector of IPB, the Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), the Rectors of other PTN and PTS, and the PangdamIII Siliwangi.
On this occasion, the Rector of IPB, Prof.Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, represented the Rectors of PTN and PTS in West Java conveyed the importance of strengthening the understanding towards NKRI, Pancasila, UUD 45, and the values contained in the slogan of Bhineka Tunggal Ika.
“The radicalism that we need to prevent so as not to disrupt our nation’s journey to realize the ideals of our independence proclamation, namely the independent, united, sovereign, just, and prosperous Country of Indonesia. We are all leaders and all residents of the campus of PTN and PTS in West Java committed to taking an active role to prevent the radicalism. To abolish and prevent the radicalism, we will ensure the development of the correct understanding regarding the principles of national and state life,” said Prof. Herry.
Prof. Herry added that the Rectors of PTN and PTS in West Java Province would improve the quality and the relevance of higher education as well as to do everything possible to prevent the growth of radicalism in the respective environment. (**/Zul)
