Starting from the activity of the teaching service in Malasari Village for three weeks last year, a group of students of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) managed to uncover the fact of the birth history of Bogor District. Malasari Village which was in Nanggung Subdistrict, Bogor District, was a tourist village and a historical village (the cikal bakal / forerunner to the establishment of Bogor District).

The group of the students were incorporated in the Student Creativity Program (PKM) called “Saung Laskar Halimun”. PKM was engaged in the community service and got the funding from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) of RI.

“In our observation, the historical village (the beginning of the formation of Bogor District) has a great cultural potential. But this potential is not balanced with the conservation and the regeneration. We do not want the culture here to be lost, therefore I and my friends from IPB are eager to preserve the culture of this village,” said Shidiq Lanang Prasetiyo, the Chief Executive of PKM Saung Laskar Halimun.

He said, if Malasari’s culture woke up, the promotion was enhanced, the tourism was developed, insha Allah the local revenue also increased. The community also insha Allah was more prosperous.

The focus of its activity was the regeneration in the effort of preserving the art and the culture with the existing local wisdom. The cultural regeneration referred to here was the regeneration of the cultural art of degung (Laskar Degung), the art of angklung (Laskar Angklung), and also the art of dance (Laskar Tari).

As a supervisor, Dr. Roza Yusfiandayani exemplified the country of Japan as the country that greatly preserved its culture. Japan was famous for its increasingly sophisticated technology, but surprisingly its culture was still firmly held, not replaced or erased by the foreign culture.

The target audience for Saung Laskar Halimun was the children of SD and SMP in Malasari Village, but it did not close the possibility for the youth and the parents to participate in the preservation of the art and the culture of Malasari. The Village Secretary, Sukandar, also added that he and the village officials were willing and ready to take part in the program.

“I already inform the whole village apparatus, and they express to fully support in this program. Other than that, insha Allah later we will propose to be the extracurricular, not for the class VI only, but starting from the class IV and V, so that the regeneration begins since the class IV,” explained Yoyok, the Chairman of the School Committee as the form of the support for this activity.

The peak of this Grand Opening was marked by the submission of angklung by the Chief Executive of PKM Saung Laskar Halimun to the Secretary of Malasari Village and the sound of angklung together as the symbolic form of the opening of Saung Laskar Halimun program as well as the handover of the musical instrument assistance in the form of angklung, calung, kecapi, and kendang as the facility to facilitate the community in the art practice. (zul)
