Pandawa Lima, Anti Ulcer Snack of Student Creation of IPB

 Student Creativity Program (PKM) of the field of the Entrepreneurship with the name of Pandawa Lima made the innovation in the form of the anti ulcer pumpkin snack. The uses of the pumpkin as the main ingredients in various food preparations were the characteristics of this PKM.

 The emergence of the idea of PKM originated from a problem that was often experienced by many people, namely ulcer. The pumpkin which was rich in beta-carotene could protect the stomach wall due to the high gastric acid inflammation, inhibited the growth of bacteria that caused the ulcer in the stomach called the chronic gastritis, and neutralized the excess stomach acid. The pumpkin also contained the calories, the carbohydrates, the proteins, the fats, the minerals (calcium, phosphorus, iron, sodium, potassium, copper and zinc), the beta-carotene, the thiamine, the niacin, the fiber, and the vitamin C. So it was said by Yolanda Erma Yunita, Chairman of PKM Pandawa Lima who was still the student of the Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB).

 Together with Nur’afiani, Anita Kusumawati, M. Kholili, and :Putri Nur Azizah, Pandawa Lima offered various snacks from the anti ulcer pumpkin. The naming of each type of the snack was taken from the names of the puppet characters of Pandawa Lima. “This is also part of the education about the Indonesian puppet that we are tucking in every packaging,” she explained.

 Currently, Pandawa Lima already produced three processed pumpkin, including Yudhistira Cookies as the snack like nastar which was fillled with the pumpkin jam. There were two packages in the jar and the box. Arjuna Pie with the pumpkin jam suffing plus a grated cheese topping on top that was packed in the box, and Nakula Pumpkin Jam which was the jam pumpkin packed in the jar.

 “Its market share is quite wide and favored by various circles. We are optimistic that Pandawa Lima will exist in the market. Currently, they are already 400 boxes and jars that are successfully sold. In the near future, we will launch two new products named Sadewa and Bima, as well as optimize the market opportunities in the months of fasting and Eid Fitri,” she said.(zul)
