Studium General of IPB’s Pre-Graduation
Directorate of Career Development and Alumni Relations (DPKHA) of BogorAgricultural University (IPB) held Pre-Graduation General Lecture in Auditorium of Andi Hakim Nasution, Darmaga Campus of IPB, Bogor (20/2). It aims to provide an overview to IPB graduates who will enter the career world.
This time, the General Studium invited two speakers, one from Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), an international cooperation organization owned by the government of Germany, Dr. Dicky Simorangkir and I Made Dony Waspada, owner of Moena Fresh.
Director of DPKHA-IPB, Dr. Syarifah Iis Aisyah said that graduation is not the end of everything, but the beginning of another challenge. According to her, in the future DPKHA expects that 100 percent of IPB graduates will be readily absorbed in the world of work.
"In the implemented era of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), Indonesian workers must be ready to face the competition. No options, the only way to deal with it is to prepare a capacity building. Indonesian language is already studied by a lot of human resources of Thailand and the Philippines. Make this a challenge," she said.
Meanwhile, the presence of a speakers with a background of entrepreneurship and professionals is expected to make prospective graduates aware of enormous challenges after graduation.
Dr. Dicky Simorangkir talked about what must be prepared to work in international institutions. According to him, the advantage of working in international organizations is to have a relatively high salary. "The benefit is adequate but with tight supervision. Working in the international community, you must master at least five languages," he said.
He advised that workers in Indonesia be prepared as market and trading are remarkably growing the ASEAN region. He also talked about the two major groups of jobs, namely in government and private sectors. Non-profit and for profit. Each job has its advantages and disadvantages. (Mtd)
