National Conference of Alumni Association of SB-IPB
School of Business, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), organized National Conference of Alumni Association of School of Business of IPB, Saturday (21/5), in IPB International Convention Center (IICC) Bogor. The event was attended by around 300 participants consisting of the alumni of Master Program and Doctoral Program of SB-IPB, and the partners of SB-IPB.
This National Conference was organized, because there was an increase in the internal demand of the Business Management (MB)-IPB and IPB as well as the greater challenges of the external environment, which made IPB through SK of Rector No. 5/IT3/OT/2015 to change MB-IPB into School of Business, Bogor Agricultural University (SB-IPB). SB-IPB got a mandate to organize the multi strata programs namely S1 Bachelor of Business, S2 Master in Business and S3 Doctoral Business.
SB-IPB committed to organize the qualified education, thus it would produce the qualified alumni, in terms of academic and non-academic. Based on the data from the Academic Division, until the end of the year of 2015 the number of alumni of Master Program were of 3,304 people and 127 alumni of Doctoral Program. The number of alumni would continue to increase every year and also would be equipped with Business Bachelor Degree Program, which in 2019 it would soon graduate its alumni.
The growing number of the alumni of SB-IPB, that was so rapidly, should be supported by an institution of alumni who was able to tighten the relationship of all the alumni from various strata of education. Other than that, it was also expected to be able to utilize the alumni of SB-IPB to contribute the alumni to the institution and the nation, and to be able to stir the alumni in a strong network and to facilitate the channeling of the creativity and the intention of the alumni of SB-IPB.
The National Conference of the Alumni of SB-IPB aimed to raise the thoughts and the ideas of alumni and the stakeholders of SB-IPB in the organizational development of the Alumni of SB-IPB and to prepare the stewardship arrangement of Alumni Organization of SB-IPB who would be responsible in carrying out the mandate of the development of the organization of the Alumni of SB-IPB.
The National Conference was started with the Seminar of "Role Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation in Improving SME Competitiveness", with the speaker of Prof. Roy Sembel & Dr. Handry Santriago (GE), and the moderator of Dr. Aviliani. Through the seminar, Prof. Roy Sembel explained about the entrepreneurship that needed to be built through the mindset. The formation of this entrepreneurial mindset would require the people to think creatively. Based on the current conditions in Indonesia, the potential to generate the entrepreneurs should be greater, especially with the more easily to get the information obtained via the internet media.
In contrast to the speaker of Prof. Roy Sembel, the speaker who was the CEO of General Electric Indonesia, Dr. Handry Santriago provided the motivation regarding the competitiveness of Indonesian in the eyes of the world. He exemplified a graduate of SMK who won the competition regarding the design of jet engine bracket, namely one of the components to lift the lightest aircraft engines of similar components that were ever made in the world, and defeated the graduate engineers from Sweden and the UK. Both of these speakers also emphasized the importance of the school of business in supporting the entrepreneurship which was very infuential later. The event then was continued with the plenary session of the National Conference of SB-IPB which set Dr. Ir. R.
