Meeting of MWA of 11 State Universities of Legal Entity Generated a Joint Communique
On 17-18 March 2016, Board of Trustees (MWA) of 11 State Universities of Legal Entity (PTN BH) held a meeting with the host of Airlangga University (Unair), Surabaya. This meeting was held in Campus C of Mulyorejo. The initiative of meeting was conducted by MWA of Unair together with MWA of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB).
This meeting was followed by MWA of 11 PTN of BH namely: IPB, University of Indonesia (UI), University of Gadjah Mada (UGM), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Airlangga University (Unair), Padjajaran University (Unpad), Diponegoro University (Undip), Institut Teknologi Surabaya (ITS), and Hasanuddin University (Unhas).
The meeting of MWA of 11 PTN of BH was officially opened by Chairman of MWA of Unair, Letjen (Purn) Sudi Silalahi, (17/3). This meeting of MWA of 11 PTN of BH had successfully issued a Joint Communique of the Management of MWA of PTN of BH signed by the Management of MWA of 11 PTN of BH. The content of the joint communique was as follows:
The Management of MWA of 11 PTN of BH realized that PTN of BH had the strategic roles in building the nation’s competitiveness in the field of science, technology, culture and superior civilization toward the just and prosperous society. MWA of PTN of BH had the duty and the responsibility to encourage the implementation of a qualified higher education, with the organization governance and finance of PTN of BH which was transparent and accountable.
The Management of MWA of eleven PTN of BH agreed to establish a joint container in the form of Cooperation Forum of MWA of PTN of BH in order to become a place to share good corporate governance practices and to find the solutions to common problems faced by PTN of BH. At the same time to perform its role as a partner of the government and the society, PTN of BH needed to get a guarantee of the academic freedom and the autonomy.
Cooperation Forum of MWA of PTN of BH was expected to be able to become the facilitator for PTN of BH and Ministry and other stakeholders that in the field of their respective sectors related with the implementation of the work program, and the management of organization and finance of PTN of BH. The Cooperation Forum of MWA of 11 PTN of BH realized that the government support was badly needed in order to realize PTN of BH to be able to compete in the international level, in implementing Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi which included the education, the research and the community service, and to support the national economic growth through the downstreaming of innovation.
The Cooperation Forum of MWA of PTN of BH encouraged the government to provide the consistent and adequate support in funding, the human resources, the facilities and infrastructures, and the legal foundation required by PTN of BH in order to improve the equitable access to the higher education, and to improve the quality and the competitiveness of the higher education in Indonesia.

Pasaribu (Chairman of the Commission II of MWA); Prof. Cecep Kusmana (Chairman of the Commission III of MWA); Dr. Dewi Hanggraeni (Vice Chairman of KA of IPB); and Drs.
