Launching of Community of Innovation of IPB

 

Directorate of Research and Innovation (DRI), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held the launching of Community of Innovation of IPB (KINI) and Ideas and Creativity Contest, in collaboration with PT. Hyve Inovasi Indonesia. This activity later could be able to provide an opportunity for the academic community (community of innovation) of IPB to provide ideas, innovation and creativity in one forum, namely a web-based platform, Saturday (12/12), in Grha Widya Wisuda (GWW) of IPB, Campus of IPB, Darmaga, Bogor.

 

Head of Sub-Directorate of Agenda for Research and Publication of DRI of IPB, Dr. Nurul Khumaeda, in her speech said, “Currently it has many innovations produced by IPB, even some of the innovations have been applied to the business scale. This can be seen from the achievement achieved by IPB for the last seven years (2008-2015), where from the total of 828 innovations, Indonesia is the most prospective selected by Business Innovation Center (BIC), as many as 323 prospective innovations are the innovative works produced by the innovators of IPB or approximately 39.01 percents”.

 

Dr. Nurul added, this activity aimed to foster the innovation culture in the environment of IPB, to develop and utilize a system of web-based open innovation platform, by forming the community of innovation of IPB to explore the ideas of research or innovation that fit the needs of the market. Launching of KINI was characterized by the online registration of the participants attended; the lecturers, the representatives of director, the heads of office, the heads of department, and the students of IPB.

 

Director of PT. Hyve Inovasi Indonesia, Dr. Daniel Tumewu said, “Launching of KINI can be used by IPB as a tool to get an idea of research or innovation according to the market needs”.

 

IPB main challenge currently was how to apply the innovation that had been produced by IPB in the community and the industry, where one of the causes was the research results which were not in accordance with the needs of the market or the industry. Dr. Nurul hoped in the future the implementation of this activity was the system of web-based open innovation platform and the innovation competition, it could be implemented and accepted by all the academicians of IPB.
