IPB’s Friday Tour at Cibanteng Village: Looking at Catfish Farming and Distributing Gurame Seeds

Friday Tour (Jumling) Team of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) again visited villages around its campus, Friday (28/8). This time the team went to Cibanteng village, Ciampea District. Their visit was to look at catfish farming using Bioploc system and the cultivation of silk worms, and closed by dispersing seeds of carp fish into the fish ponds owned by the Farmer Group of Family Empowerment Post (Posdaya) called Alam Mandiri.
 
Village Head of Cibanteng, Warso, S.Sos, in front of dozens of citizens said, "The presence of IPB in the middle of the community should be taken for good use. Villagers should take greater care to be more developed, accepting all the technology and science of agriculture”.
 
IPB Friday Tour Team Leader, who is also Vice Head of Community Service of Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) IPB, Dr. Hartayo said, "We hope the villagers around the campus benefit from IPB’s presence, providing a real contribution in the technology and science of agriculture as a whole. Moreover, some IPB’s students stay in the  boardinghouse owned by the villagers around the campus. From the positive side,  advantage can be taken by villagers to boost the economy with the presence of IPB’s students. But villagers must also share knowledge of how to live socially well so that students can learn and take advantage of it ".
 
Attending this occasion were among others a number of administrators and members of Agrianita of IPB, representatives of the Human Resources Development Centre (P2SDM) of IPB, Warcito, SP, MM, representatives of Cibanteng Kapolsek, representatives od Cibanteng Babinsa, LPPM-IPB team and IPB PR team.
