Health Education and Nutrition for students of IPB
Health is the main capital in conducting all activities of a person, especially for students. To increase students awareness on the importance of health care, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), in this case the Directorate of Student Affairs, organized a Health Education and Nutrition for students of IPB, with the theme Through Lifestyle, to produce Superior Students. The event, which was attended by about 600 students of IPB was held at the auditorium of the Common Class Room (CCR), Campus Dramaga, Bogor, on 16 November 2014.
Head of Sub Directorate of Student Welfare, Directorate of Student Affairs, Dr. Megawati Simanjuntak, SP, M.Si said "This event was organized to educate IPB students on the importance of keeping their healthy ranging from dietary adjustments and keep the environment healthy. This activity is based on the high prevalence of diseases related to food and the environment such as typhus, dengue fever, appendicitis, and ulcer. Therefore, IPB tries to take preventive actions by educating students to enable them to adjust their diet, lifestyle and maintain a healthy environment, "said Dr. Megawati.
"In this activity, the participants were provided free Medical Check-Up and nutrition consultations. To keep adequate nutrition food intake, the committee also provided Omega-3 eggs that are ready to eat, milk, and green bean porridge, "she added.
The Organizing Committee of Health and Nutrition Education have invited three resource persons of IPB. First, the head of clinics who is also the lecturer of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of IPB, Dr. Sri Budiarti who presented her material on Protecting Health is Important thing.
The second resource person was the Chairman of the Department of Community Nutrition of FEMA IPB, Dr. Rimbawan, who presented his paper on the Healthy and Balanced Nutrition. During which he explained the important of balanced nutrition as the principle of maintaining and improving the health and nutritional status, by regulating the balance between eating and physical activity in accordance with the requirements.
The Third resource person was, Dr. DVM. Trioso Purnawarman, M.Si of the Department of Animal Diseases and Veterinary Public Health of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine IPB, who presented on the Preventive Action against the Disease on Originating from Animals.
It is expected that students of the University will learn and understand the symptoms of the disease caused by animals, and the most important of all to prevent those diseases, we should aware about the healthy diet and know the menu we consume, as well as kosher and Toyib. (Wied).
