Community Empowerment in Producing Liquid Fertilizer from Household Organic Waste in Purwasari Village Wednesday, October 29, 2014
Community Services Research Institute (LPPM-IPB) conducted training on the production of organic liquid fertilizer from the household waste at the office of Purwasari village, Dramaga District, Bogor Regency (24/10). The event was attended by young people of Purwasari Village who are members of the Youth Forum of Purwasari Village. As participants, covering about 30 Neighborhoods (RT), each RT sent two persons. Thus, there were a total of 60 participants.
For that purpose, LPPM-IPB brought in directly a facilitator from the supervised village who has practiced a liquid fertilizer program so that he can train the other villages around the campus, namely Supriyadi Saputra from Babakan village. "The solution offered is the production of liquid organic fertilizer from household organic waste with the help of yeast / bacteria, EM4 solution, brown sugar, and starch water from rice. This liquid organic fertilizer has the advantage of overcoming nutrient deficiency and providing nutrients quickly. The organic waste used is the household waste (food, vegetable, flour, and fruit)," said Yadi.
"We can start from the simplest sector, that is, the household sector. The utilization of household waste can be in various ways, depending on the type of waste. Making liquid fertilizer is an alternative to making trash have an economic value. The project is designed as an effort to solve the problem of waste processing, particularly the utilization of organic waste," he added.
Muamad Jusuf Mustopa, Village Chief of Purwasari, said, "This activity is purely an initiative of the Purwasari Youth Forum, wanting to have a positive activity for the benefit of the community. Therefore, this activity will continue to give benefit to the agricultural sector in Purwasari village." On that occasion, also attending was a staff of Human Resources Development Centre (P2SDM) of LPPM-IPB, Warcito, SP, MM, to give some motivation, said," The importance of the spirit to keep the environment clean, which is expected to increase the people’s awareness of the importance of creating a clean, healthy, beautiful and comfortable environment, started by the youth of Purwasari themselves. "Meanwhile the chairman of Purwasari Youth Forum, Daud Muslim sais," After this training, the trainees can practice the manufacture of liquid fertilizer from organic waste. "
Given the important role of liquid fertilizer to increase agricultural productivity, especially of the household waste processing, we should implement it immediately. All people see the results: plants become fresher, growth becomes shorter, plants resistance to pest attack increases, and garbage piling up can be resolved quickly and accurately. (Mtd)
