Lively Mother’s Day and Birthday of Agrianita IPB
Stepped on the age of 35 years, every human being both male and female would experience middle age or midlife. “At midlife it occurs the hormonal changes. Men reduce 20 per cents of their hormone testosterones and the hormone progesterones are constant, so that the men tend to be feminine. Whereas women shrink their hormone estrogens and progesterones while their hormone testosterones are constant, so that the women tend to be masculine and more resilient to face the middle-aged, “said the Psychologist of Yayasan Kita dan Buah Hati, Elly Risman, the Psychologist in the event of the Seminar of ‘Wanita Ingin Dimengerti’, Thursday (29/11) at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) International Convention Center (IICC). The activity was held by Agrianita IPB in commemorating the Mother’s Day and 6th Birthday of Agrianita IPB.
These hormonal changes caused the emotional turmoil in men and women. “Although still debatable, the recent research result shows not only women who experience menopause, but men are too. The scientists call it andropausa. By understanding our partner also experiences andropausa, we empathize when suddenly at the age of 40 years, our husband experiences many changes emotionally and as habit,” Elly said.
We could identify the man experiencing andropausa by looking at the day-to-day behaviour. The behavioural characteristics such as the man tended to be more introspection, quiet but did not tell anything, did not understand what happened, drank much coffee, smoked and restless and very busy. Further Elly explained at that time the man did not like stability, wanted attention from outside the home, demanded his wife to cook and sex, and tended to rebel. “On the contrary to woman who is more lazy to cook and sex,” she said.
Dr.Dewi Inong Irana, SpKK, who was active in Yayasan Kita dan Buah Hati, said along with the increasing age of woman so the skin changed. The skin changes were amongst all the moisture and collagen decreased, the skin became dry, the wrinkle arose in the muscle, the discoloration and regeneration of skin cells were slow. “Mothers also need to pay attention to skin damaging factors i.e. ultraviolet light, cigarette, alcohol, cosmetics containing dangerous chemicals, salt, unbalanced nutrition and stress,” she explained.
One of the tips to keep the skin according to Dewi was avoiding the sun, applying moisturizer, eating balanced nutritional food, getting enough rest, exercising regularly, avoiding stress and caring skin regularly. “Based on the research that I did in 2001 it is proven that the obligation to wear headscarves and veils for Muslim women is the natural skin protector which efficacy is exceeding SPF 15,” said the doctor that since 1983 wore Muslim dress perfectly. The activity attended by 500 participants also presented the resource person, Dr.Dewi Prabarini Soeharto, SpOG. (ris)
