IPB is Designing Professional Education of Nutritionist
Higher education really needs to be tailored to the needs of the community and its graduates will meet the quality standards of the National Qualifications Framework Indonesia (KKNI). For this reason, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) is planning to establish professional education of nutritionist for undergraduates of community nutrition. "Currently, the Department of Community graduates has be recognized for their professions as those graduates of public health, medicine, and vet, so we see the need to design a professional education of nutritionist," said Head of the Department of Community Nutrition, Faculty of Human Ecology IPB, Dr.Budi Setiawan in Back to Community Nutrition Campus Day meeting held by the Community Nutrition Student Association IPB (HIMAGIZI). This event was attended by the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Human Ecology IPB, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Sulaeman. The establishment of professional education is delivered by Dr. Budi to the alumni as new information to upgrade their skills. Now, the establishment is being prepared and studied in-depth.
Meanwhile the purpose of Back to Community Nutrition Campus of IPB is, according to Dr. Budi, as part of forming the Community Nutrition Alumni Association of IPB and to get feedback from the alumni who have been engaged in the job world. "We want to get input on the curriculum, the quality of education, and up-to-date information on the progress of alumni in order to update the national accreditation," said Dr. Budi.
Previously, Department of Community Nutrition and Family Resources (GMSK), which was the origin of the Department of Community Nutrition, has obtained the accreditation of A category and have got a good track record. Now, the Department of Community Nutrition is again proposing foe an accreditation and revitalizing the alumni organizations. "One of the requirements in filing such an accreditation is the role and experiences of the alumni. We hope the Community Nutrition alumni can give valuable inputs for the progress of their alma mater, " said Dr. Budi. (Mtd)
