If We Know the Market, We Will be Able to Control It
On 2015, Indonesia agreed to sign an economic agreement for the ASEAN. This could be considered a threat, a challenge or a business opportunity, depending on our mindset. This was expressed by Chairman HIPMI Higher Education, Rajasapta Okto when he delivered his remarks in the Entrepreneurial Seminar, at Grha Widya Wisuda, Darmaga Campus, on 4 October 2012.
"For businessmen or entrepreneurs this economic agreement could become a golden opportunity, as Indonesia will be the prospective market. Currently the population of Indonesia is around 240 million people, in 2015 when the agreement will be enacted the the total population of ASEAN including Indonesia will be approximately 600 million people. In the future, please don’t be surprised when we go to the IPB canteen, its management has changed into Thai businessman, or vice versa. Therefore, we have to prepared to have such experience on the year 2015, "he expressed in front of hundreds of participants of the Entrepreneurial Seminar held by the Directorate of Career Development and Alumni Relations (DPKHA) of IPB. On this special occasion, Prof. Dr. Ir Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc as Rector of IPB and Rajasapta Okto as Chairman HIPMI have signed an MoU on Education, Research and Community Services.
In this seminar, DPKHA IPB successfully invited young entrepreneurs whose turnover has reached hundreds of millions to billions of Rupiahs, one of whom is Mr. Elang Gumilang (CEO Elang Group), Gigin Mardiansyah (Director of D’Create), Willy Aristaking (the owner of King Aquascape Business). Mr. Elang Gumilang, 27 years, in addition who has won several awards at national and international level, this young billionaire the IPB graduate who graduates of the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) IPB is now controlling 17 housing complexes. Total 4,000 homes have been successfully constructed.
"I started to establish my business since I had been in the high school. At the beginning, my business was unseccessful, then I switched to the property business. At that time I just though to build houses affordable for middle to lower classes. At present, the ojeg (someone who provide services by motorcycle), vegetable vendors and others who usually spend their money to rent houses will be afordable to pay the house installments, "he said.
