4000 people Enliven Indonesia Cycling 2012
At least 4,000 people were participating in the activity of Indonesia Cycling organized by the Public Broadcasting Agency (LPP) of RRI in collaboration with Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and Municipality Government of Bogor, West Java, on Sunday, 23/9. This event took the start at Bogor City Hall and the finish at Dramaga Campus of IPB.
Thousands of people were released by the Mayor of Bogor, Diani Budiarto, accompanied the Regional Secretary, Aim Halim Hermana. Participants travelled a distance of approximately 25 kilometers on the route of Juanda Street, Cimanggu, Yasmin, Dramaga Main Road, finishing at Gymnasium of IPB campus.
"This event was held simultaneously in several major cities in Indonesia with a total of 20,000 participants. In Bogor particularly, the number of participants reached 4250 people," said Director of RRI Rosaria Niken Widiastuti.
Rosaria said in the event there was also a campaign of eating local fruit with the theme "I Love the Fruit of the Archipelago". This campaign was followed by all participants by eating fruit together, followed IPB Rector Herry Suhardiyanto Prof., Vice-Rector for Academic Prof. Yonny Koesmaryono and a number of invited guests.
IPB Rector Prof. Herry Suhardiyanto in his speech says he strongly supports the cycling carried by RRI.
"It is time that we support the use of alternative transportation mode, the bike. It is healthy and it is to keep the environment clean as well," said Rector.
Rector also advised that people love to eat local fruit fruits produced from within the country.
"Eating the domestic fruit is good for health in addition to support the welfare of farmers," he said.
Indonesia Cycling Event 2012 was also filled with the planting of a number of rare trees in the front yard of Gymnasium in Dramaga Campus of IPB, such as mangosteen, Nam-nam and other fruits.
In the event, there was also a bike bazaar and distribution of door prizes to the participants with the grand prize of a house. (Mtd)
