IPB Alumni Homecoming Festival 2025, Momentum for Alumni Consolidation to Strengthen Campus Impact
Thousands of IPB University alumni from various generations will gather and return to campus for the IPB Alumni Homecoming Festival (PRA IPK) 2025, which will be held from December 18 to 21, 2025.
More than just a reunion, this event serves as a momentum for alumni and campus consolidation to strengthen collaboration toward an IPB University that has an increasing impact on society, the nation, and the state.
IPB University Rector DrmAlim Setiawan Slamet emphasized that strengthening the role of alumni is key to realizing an impactful campus, in line with the policy direction of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The 2025 IPB Alumni Homecoming Festival is the first major event since he officially took office as rector.
“This is not just a reunion and nostalgia event, but a strategic momentum to build closer collaboration between IPB and its alumni,” he said when opening the PRA IPK event at Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW), IPB Dramaga Campus, Wednesday (12/18).
According to Dr Alim, alumni have two main roles in promoting IPB University as an impactful campus. First, strengthening IPB University as a leading research institution by presenting campus innovations that provide tangible benefits to society. Second, supporting the creation of superior human resources (HR) through the role of alumni as mentors for students and young graduates.
“In the era of talentism, alumni have an important role as mentors to prepare human resources who are able to make real contributions,” he said.
He also expressed his pride in IPB University’s achievement as the 49th ranked university in the world, 10th in Asia, and number one in Southeast Asia, which he said was a legacy of previous leadership that must be continued collectively.
Prof Arif Satria, who currently serves as Chair of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), also emphasized that the strength of IPB University alumni lies in their systemic and sustainable contributions.
“The contributions of IPB alumni are not incidental, but systematically designed. This is what makes IPB alumni one of the best,” he said.
He mentioned three main values that characterize IPB University alumni, namely integrity, innovation, and inspiration. Integrity breeds trust, trust fosters collaboration, and collaboration produces impactful innovation.
“IPB must dare to dream big, translate it into a vision, strategy, and strong execution in order to become a leader in higher education in the global south, even at the global level,” he emphasized.
The Director of Career Development, Entrepreneurship, and Alumni Relations at IPB University, Dr Sukma Kamajaya, reported that PRA IPK 2025 lasted for four days with 105 activities spread across various campus facilities. A total of 450 booths from various sectors participated, with an estimated 40-50 thousand visitors.
“This event is the best offering for our alma mater and proof of the solidarity of IPB alumni,” he said.
Chairman of the IPB University Alumni Association (HA), Dr Walneg S Jas, expressed his appreciation to all parties involved. “The Alumni Association is our big home. With the spirit of togetherness across generations and faculties, IPB will continue to fly higher,” he concluded. (AS) (IAAS/LAN)
