Hundreds of IPB University students who passed through the Student Council President Pathway participated in the “Defending the Country IPB Student Council President 2025” activity at the Army Camping Ground, Gunung Bunder, Bogor (10/31).

This activity is part of the Student Council President Pathway Student Capacity Building and Development Program, designed to strengthen the character, nationalism, and leadership spirit of students as future leaders of the nation.

A total of 259 students from Class 62 took part in this activity. The program is a collaboration between the IPB University Student Council President Pathway Student Association (Imajatos) and the IPB University Directorate of Student Affairs.

In his speech as the ceremony supervisor, IPB University Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Prof Deni Noviana, emphasized that the spirit of defending the country must be interpreted more broadly.

“Defending the country does not always mean taking up arms, but also being ready to make a real contribution through science, innovation, and community service,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rector Prof Arif Satria stated that the student council president pathway is one of IPB University’s concrete steps in producing future leaders of the nation.

“They (the student council presidents) are the seeds of successful prospective students. IPB University is fertile ground for these seeds, so that the student council presidents can grow and develop into great and successful individuals in the future,” he said.

To date, nearly 10 percent of new students at IPB University are student council presidents. Many of them have demonstrated their capabilities in various areas of campus leadership. One of them is the President of the IPB University Student Executive Board (BEM KM), who also came from the Student Council President pathway, along with a number of other student organization leaders.

Through the Student Council President pathway, IPB University has become one of the universities in Indonesia that provides opportunities for student council presidents to continue developing and enhancing their leadership capacities at the university level, as a concrete step in shaping Indonesia’s future leaders.

This pathway is a tangible manifestation of IPB University’s efforts to shape the character and capabilities of students who are not only academically outstanding but also resilient in leadership. (*/Rz) (IAAS/ASY)
