IPB University’s Wacana Forum Officially Launches Purwasari Tourism Village Development Program
The IPB University Postgraduate Student Forum (Wacana) has officially launched a series of activities to develop Purwasari Tourism Village in Bogor Regency through its Sapa Lestari program. The inaugural event, held at the Purwasari Village Hall, focused on the sub-theme “Enterprise Capacity Building (Development of Purwasari Tourism Village MSMEs)”.
The chief executive, Rizky Kusumah, SPi, reported that the inaugural Sapa Lestari program was attended by 27 participants, consisting of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and village officials.
In his speech, the Chief of the IPB University Discussion Forum, Firman Arief Soejana, ST, MT, said that Sapa Lestari is expected to be more than just a project or community service, but a forum for building synergy and sharing knowledge from the university and academics for Purwasari Village.
The event featured two speakers. Asep Hamzah, SPi, MSi presented on “Marketing and Packaging Strategies for MSME Products.” He emphasized the importance of determining target consumers, building brand awareness, and utilizing simple but consistent methods such as promoting to neighbors, WhatsApp statuses, and live TikTok. He also asserted that “attractive product packaging can increase sales value.”
Meanwhile, Sukma B Prasetyati, SPi, MTrPi presented the topic “Developing Food Potential in Tourism.” Sukma highlighted the opportunities for local food as a tourism icon and the importance of community cooperation in developing tourism villages. “Product differentiation can be achieved through market segmentation, attractive packaging, and food processing diversification,” she added.
Through collaboration and promotion, both digitally and offline, Purwasari Village is expected to enhance its tourism appeal while strengthening the local economy based on innovation and sustainability.
As a form of commitment to joint development, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the IPB University Postgraduate Student Forum and Purwasari Village at the end of the event. (*/Rz) (IAAS/HRD)
