IPB University Wins Baznas Best Partner Campus Award
IPB University has once again made a national achievement by winning the award for Best Partner Campus at the 2025 Baznas Awards. On the same occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management at IPB University, Prof Irfan Syauqi Beik, was also awarded the title of Muslim Scholar Supporting Zakat for the Welfare of the People.
This award was given by the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of the Republic of Indonesia as a form of appreciation for IPB University’s contribution in supporting the national zakat ecosystem, particularly through strategic collaboration in education, research, and community service oriented towards the welfare of the people.
The Vice Rector of IPB University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof Deni Noviana, who had the opportunity to receive the award on Thursday (8/28) in Jakarta, expressed his gratitude and pride for the award.
He said that this award is clear evidence that IPB University is not only a center of knowledge, but also a driving force for social change.
“We are committed to continuing to strengthen our synergy with Baznas in developing professional and impactful zakat management,” he said.
Prof Deni also added that this award serves as motivation for the entire IPB University academic community to continue innovating in creating zakat-based community empowerment programs.
“We hope that this collaboration can inspire other campuses to participate in the national zakat movement,” he added.
Contacted separately, Prof Irfan Syauqi Beik said that the award from Baznas to him was a mandate as well as recognition of the role of academics in developing an inclusive and sustainable zakat system.
“One example of IPB University’s contribution is the accommodation of the CIBEST Welfare Index as part of the National Zakat Index, which has been used as a tool to measure the performance of national zakat management since December 2016, particularly in assessing its impact,” he explained.
Prof Irfan also expressed his hope that this award would motivate the younger generation and academics to be more active in zakat research and advocacy.
“I hope that in the future, more campuses and scholars will be involved in the zakat movement, so that zakat can truly become an economic force for the people that is capable of alleviating poverty and building independence,” he said.
The Baznas Awards is an annual event that aims to give awards to parties who have made significant contributions to zakat management in Indonesia.
This year, awards were given to various categories, including provincial Baznas, regencies/cities, zakat institutions (LAZ), media, regional heads, public figures, and partner institutions, including universities. (dr) (IAAS/STD)
