IPB University’s Innovation Real Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) team held a ‘Fish and Plant Cultivation in a Bucket (Budikdamber)’ activity with students of Public Elementary School (SDN) 4 Cibenda, Cibenda Village, Parigi District, Pangandaran Regency, West Java. This simple budikdamber is a combination of catfish cultivation in a bucket and kale hydroponics.

The making of this simple budikdamber involved 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students at SDN 4 Cibenda. This activity also concludes the series of Learning Together with Cibenda Students (BER-ASA) activities that have been carried out.

As mandated by the school, each class was given one bucket of budikdamber as their responsibility. The head of SDN 4 Cibenda hopes that this activity can train student responsibility in each class.

“Today’s activity adds to the children’s knowledge that it turns out we can also grow plants without soil media,” said Jauhara, a member of the KKNT Innovation Cibenda Village team.

M Rizky Satriatama Waiso, Coordinator of KKNT Innovation Cibenda Village  said, “The enthusiasm of the students today was great. They asked many questions related to kale seeds, catfish and the function of these budikdamber objects.”

“This activity is expected to increase the knowledge and interest of students of SDN 4 Cibenda towards agriculture. In line with that, it is also expected that students’ responsibility and their concern for the surrounding environment can increase,” said Rizky. (*/Lp/Rz) (IAAS/SNI)
