Optimizing Business Profits of Mekarsari Villagers, Himasilkan IPB University Provides Financial Management Training

The Fishery Product Technology Student Association (Himasilkan), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) IPB University through the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) conducted a socialization of financial management. This socialization is in order to develop the potential of Mekarsari Village, Bogor, West Java.

Trian, a student of IPB University as well as the person in charge of the activity said that the socialization of financial management was given to the farmer women group (KWT). With this activity, he and the team expect to provide an understanding of proper financial management to maximize business profits. 

The IPB University student from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) explained that the participants had the opportunity to learn the calculation of the cost of goods produced (HPP) and the determination of the selling price of the product. 

“Financial management needs to pay attention to financial planning, business capital, cash management, financial statements, and long-term business planning. Financial management is important for business sustainability, because it determines how much profit can be obtained per month,” said Trian.

Novita, one of the KWT members said, to determine the price of the products produced, so far she has judged from the estimated price of all materials purchased. “From the purchase price, we adjust and usually exaggerate to get a profit, but we are still constrained in marketing the products,” said Novita.

Novita hopes that this training can provide benefits related to determining the right selling price of products so that they can get maximum profit. Not only that, by knowing the components of production prices, it is hoped that by keeping prices affordable for consumers. (*/ra/Rz) (IAAS/HRD)
