The Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) and the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK) IPB University held another Quality Family School (SKB) in Margajaya Village, Bogor, (25/7). The material discussed was about smart family financial management guided by Dr Lilik Noor Yuliati.

Dr Lilik Noor Yulianti emphasised the importance of family financial management to achieve prosperity and prevent financial problems in the future. She also highlighted how good financial management can support child nutrition and reduce the risk of stunting, especially in the first 1.000 days of life (HPK).

“A few or a bunch of money is not a problem. But the problem is how we allocate the money, how we can manage it for children and manage it to meet children’s nutritional needs,” said Dr Lilik Noor Yuliati, IPB University lecturer from the Department of IKK.

She explains, “Saving should be done at the beginning when we receive the money with an amount of about 10-15 per cent. The savings can be used for emergency needs.”

After the presentation of material on finance, participants were invited to practice preparations for supplementary food provision (PMT) guided by the women cadres of the Margajaya Village posyandu. The kinds of dishes were quail egg soup with chicken feet broth and tempeh nuggets. Before the practice, the nutritional content of each food preparation made was explained.

With this activity, it is hoped that the participants can apply the knowledge they have gained to improve family welfare and support the realisation of a healthy and quality generation. (*/ra/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
