Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria inaugurated 43 new structural officials for the positions of head of office, vice dean, head of department, assistant of institution, secretary of department, head of field, head of administration and supervisor. The inauguration ceremony was held at Graha Widya Wisuda, IPB Dramaga Campus and broadcasted through IPB TV YouTube channel, (14/7).

"Congratulations to all officials who were inaugurated," said Rector. To the inaugurated officials, Prof Arif gave inspirational theories that could be an illustration for the officials in carrying out their duties. He discussed the paradigm of to have and to be.

"An official whose tendency is dominant with the to have paradigm, when his position is lost, then everything is lost," explained the Rector.

Meanwhile, he continued, for someone who has a to be paradigm, when he gets a position, he will try his best to give the best, to fulfil himself with his position.

"The to be paradigm will think actively, not busy. Actively carrying out anything with high spirits, working wholeheartedly. While people with the to have paradigm, they will be busy without having meaning," Prof Arif continued.

The Rector said that the inaugurated officials should consider the position as a mandate. According to him, "This is a lesson for our personalities to be more mature, better and stronger."

In addition, Prof Arif hopes that all the officials will become leaders of change. Leader of change is not a position, but a mentality. The mentality to continue to create new things and orientated to create a legacy that has an impact on progress.

"As any official at IPB University, the mentality is what legacy we will leave, so that our lives become more meaningful. Five years in office is our chance to provide benefits," he added.

Thus, said Prof Arif, IPB University will become a great institution if all its citizens are legacy-oriented. "Let us encourage and inspire each other," he concluded. (IAAS/RUM)
